COMPARISSON OF THREE PANTOPRAZOLE-BASED THERAPY IN
TREATMENT OF PATIENTS WITH DUODENAL ULCER

Aim: To evaluate effectiveness of three triple pantoprazole-based protocols in
healing and eliminating of H. pylori from duodenal ulcer. Method and Material: In this
prospective study, were included 123 patients with duodenal ulcer. All groups were
treated with Pantoprazole 40 mg twice daily, first group was also treated with amoxicillin
1.0 gr twice daily and clarithromicin 500 mg twice daily (PAC), for second group
metronidazole 400 mg three times daily and clarithromicin 500 mg twice daily was
administered (PMC), and for the third group amoxicillin 1.0 gr twice daily and
metronidazole 400 mg three times per day was given (PAM) for two weeks. Results:
Results of sanation with PAC protocol was 91%, PMC 90% and for PAM 88%. The
eradication results for PAC protocol was 91%, PMC 90% and PAM 71%. Conclusions:
PAC protocol significantly differs in eradication effectiveness compared to PAM
protocol.
