The use of tamsulosin and alpha-1 adrenergic blockers in general, increases the
rate of spontaneous passage of distal ureteral stones. It is related with decreased use of
analgesics, smaller rate of renal/ureteral colic, shorter period of hospitalization and
avoiding of more invasive treatment options. Our data support its use in the conservative
treatment of urinary stones in the distal ureter.
