PSYCHOTRAUMA AND ITS CONSEQUENCES
THROUGH THE GENERATIONS

Posttraumatic stress disorder (PTSD) in a group of youngsters descending from
traumatized families has been examined in the present study. The results suggest that the
emotional situation of the children might be influenced from the symptoms their parents
are suffering and exposing. The children descending from families that survived
situations of torture might be a highly risked group, within which we can explore inter
individual differences in being influenced from the risk factors that are connected with
the presence or not of PTSD. Further studies are necessary to scan subgroups, girls and
boys for example, comparing the families whose parents have been imprisoned with the
families whose parents have been internally displaced
