SLOVENSKÉHO PÔVODU<br />

NIGROSPORA – NEW ENDOPHYTE FROM WHEAT (TRITICUM AESTIVUM L.)<br />

OF SLOVAK ORIGIN<br />

ABSTRACT<br />

The aim of this study was to investigate endogenous contamination of wheat (Triticum aestivum L.) grains with focus on<br />

new endophytic filamentous fungi – Nigrospora. A total of 52 wheat samples were analyzed. They were harvested from<br />

different regions of Slovakia in seasons <strong>2006</strong> (21 samples), 2007 (30 samples) and 2008 (21 samples). The endogenous<br />

contamination was detected by direct plating method on Dichloran Rose Bengal Chloramphenicol agar (DRBC) after<br />

superficial sterilization of grains. Total endogenous contamination by micromycetes was ranging from 26 to 100 %. This<br />

study discovered only 1 species - Nigrospora oryzae, which was detected in 47.62 % (season <strong>2006</strong>), 60.00 % (season 2007)<br />

and 28.57 % (season 2008) of wheat samples. This species was presented at 1.54 % (season <strong>2006</strong>), 4.97 % (season 2007)<br />

and 0.86 % (season 2008) of analyzed wheat grains.<br />
