KVALITA MÄSA A MLIEKA TRANSGÉNNYCH KRÁLIKOV
TRANSGENIC RABBIT MILK AND MEAT QUALITY
INTRODUCTION
Despite more than 50 reports on transgenic rabbit
generations, there are a few data on the quality of obtained
recombinant proteins and on possible effects of
transgenesis on meat and milk performance of genetically
modified animals.
The need of systematic study of biological properties in
transgenic animals is a consequence of their spread and
commercial utilization in various spheres of human
activity. Possible interactions of integrated genes of
transgenic organisms with the existed genotype are one of
the intensive by discussed problems. Emigration of
ABSTRACT
This review summarizes our recent data based on the analyses of rabbit milk and meat from four generations of transgenic
animals. Rabbit transgenic founders were generated by the microinjection of foreign DNA (mammary gland specific
transgenic over-expression of hFVIII) into the egg and several generations of transgenic rabbits were obtained after mating
of transgenic founders with non-transgenic rabbits. Our results from several reports showed that milk and meat performance
of transgenic rabbit over several generations did not differ significantly from those of non-transgenic animals.
Keywords: rabbit, transgenic, milk and meat yield, mWAP-hFVIII gene
integrated foreign gene from the experimental population
into production herds can markedly affect performance
with possible consequences in food chain. Therefore better
knowledge of relations between performance indexes and
expression of integrated gene gives precondition for
objective evaluation of application benefits from
transgenesis.
