początku XX wieku do czasów obecnych.
Współczesna willa miejska w Warszawie
Określenie willa miejska - villa urbana wywodzi się ze
starożytności. W literaturze wyróżnia się spośród typów
zabudowy mieszkaniowej jako obiekt o wysokim poziomie
architektonicznym i artystycznym, wolnostojący, posiadający
silne powiązania z zielenią. W Warszawie obiekty o cechach
willi rzadko były w ten sposób określane, najczęściej
nazywano je rezydencjami lub pałacykami. Pojęcie “willa
miejska” zaczęło nabierać innego znaczenia w XX wieku –
nie oznaczało już tylko budynku jednorodzinnego. Obecnie
wydaje się być nie do końca jasne. Najchętniej używane jest
przez środowisko deweloperów w celach reklamowych, po
to, by podnieść prestiż inwestycji. Zjawisko to sygnalizuje
potrzebę doprecyzowania współczesnej definicji willi
miejskiej. Praca miała na celu prześledzenie historii
przykładów warszawskich, a następnie wysnucie wniosków
do określenia cech obiektu, który czerpiąc z tradycji
i odpowiadając na aktualne potrzeby, mógłby obecnie być
nazwany willą miejską.
The evolution of the urban villa concept
– from the beginning of the 20th century
until today. The contemporary urban
villa in Warsaw
The term urban villa – villa urbana has its origins in antiquity.
In literature, the urban villa stands out from other housing
developments as a building of high architectural and
artistic standards. It is a detached house that is strongly
connected to its green surroundings. In Warsaw, buildings
with distinctive villa features were rarely described this way.
It was more common to refer to them as residences or small
palaces. The concept of the urban villa took on a different
meaning in the 20th century and no longer meant a singlefamily
building. Today the concept is not fully clear. It is most
keenly used by developers for advertising purposes in order
to raise the prestige of their investment. This phenomenon
indicates the need to clarify the contemporary definition of
an urban villa. This project’s aim was to trace the history of
Warsaw examples of urban villas, and then to find conclusions
for determining the features of a building, which, drawing
on tradition and responding to contemporary needs, could
today be referred to as an urban villa.
