Praca porusza problematykę zjawiska zatracania
różnorodności gatunkowej flory I fauny na Ziemi, przyczyn
tego zjawiska oraz możliwych sposobów radzenia
sobie z problemem w konfrontacji z pohitlerowskim
kompleksem sztolni “Riese” w Górach Sowich jako
lokalizacji dla projektowanej Arki Noego. Efektem pracy
jest projekt architektoniczny Arki, w którego skład wchodzi
adaptowana sztolnia „Osówka” z kompleksu „Riese” oraz
nowoprojektowana część naziemna struktury, pełniąca
funkcję infrastrukturalną dla podziemi oraz badawczą
z zakresu poruszonego tematu ekstynkcji. Zetknięcie dwóch
głównych wątków z części teoretycznej zaowocowało
projektem redefiniującym militarny charakter hitlerowskiego
obiektu związanego ze śmiercią i zniszczeniem na Arkę
Noego – sanktuarium życia i przetrwania flory i fauny.
Noah’s Ark. A new meaning for the
Nazi ‚Riese’ tunnel complex in the Owl
Mountains, Sudetes
The project touches on the issue of the loss of biodiversity
on Earth, the reasons behind this phenomenon, and the
possible methods of tackling the problem; this is confronted
with the Nazi Riese tunnel complex in the Owl Mountains,
Sudetes, which is given a new identity as the location
for a proposed Noah’s Ark. The effect of this work is the
architectural design of the Ark, which includes the Osówka
tunnel from the complex, and the newly-designed groundlevel
of the structure, which will take on the infrastructural
function for the underground level, and also the research
function on the tackled problem of the extinction of fauna
and flora. The crossover of the two main threads from the
theoretical part resulted in a project that re-defines the
military character of the Nazi complex, associated with death
and destruction, changing it into Noah’s Ark – a sanctuary of
life and the survival of flora and fauna.
