uprawiania sportu. Projekt budynku
mieszczącego wspinaczkowe centrum
sportowe w Warszawie
Ilość ścian wspinaczkowych stale rośnie, jednak oczekiwania
wspinaczy nie są spełnione w stu procentach. Tymczasem
na Woli niszczeją od lat obudowy zbiorników na gaz zwane
Warszawskim Koloseum, o przestrzeni idealnej na ścianę
wspinaczkową. W treści pracy wskazane są potrzeby
środowiska sportowego, przyczyny braków istniejących
obiektów, zasady kształtowania obiektów sportowych oraz
kierunki rozwiązań. Historyczne rotundy są źródłem podjęcia
kwestii adaptacji zabytkowej tkanki architektonicznej oraz
styku nowej I starej architektury. Uszanowano zasady ochrony
konserwatorskiej i rewitalizacji cennych architektonicznie
terenów poprzemysłowych. Esej teoretyczny dotyka tematu
architektury nieobecnej i zapełniania pustki. Zaprojektowany
kompleks rekreacyjno-sportowy ma popularyzować
i profesjonalizować wspinaczkę, sprzyjać aktywności fizycznej
i odpoczynkowi bliskiemu naturze. Funkcja obiektu wykracza
poza sport, gwarantując pełniejszy cykl funkcjonowania
i wzbogacenie przestrzeni publicznej.

A simulation of extreme sport in safe
conditions. A project for a building
to house a climbing centre in Warsaw
The number of climbing walls is constantly growing, yet they
do not fully meet the expectations of climbers. Meanwhile, the
shells of two massive gas holders in Warsaw’s Wola district
have been deteriorating for decades. Known collectively
as the Warsaw Colosseum, their interiors offer the perfect
space for a climbing wall. The content of the project points
to the needs of the sporting community, the reasons behind
the lack of facilities, the rules behind shaping sports facilities
and a roadmap for providing solutions. Old rotundas
provide the spur for discussion on the adaptation of historic
architectural structures and the crossroads between new
and old architecture. The project adheres to the rules of
conservation and revitalisation of architecturally valuable
post-industrial areas. The theoretical essay touches on
the subject of absent architecture and of filling up a void.
The designed sport and recreational complex aims to
popularise and professionalise climbing, encourage physical
activity and promote leisure close to nature. The new facility
will transcend sport by offering a fuller cycle of functions
while enriching public space.
