Obserwatorium Astronomiczne
w Sopotni Wielkiej
Przedmiotem opracowania jest próba zdefiniowania
typologii współczesnego obserwatorium, skupiającego
pasjonatów astronomii z całego kraju oraz będącego
kompleksową odpowiedzią na brak miejsca służącego
prowadzeniu wspólnych badań oraz szerzeniu wiedzy
o astronomii w południowej części Polski. W kontekście
teoretycznym podjęta została próba wyjaśnienia
problematyki zanieczyszczenia sztucznym światłem oraz
wprowadzenia działań architektonicznych pozwalających
na minimalizacje negatywnego wpływu światła sztucznego
na ciemność nocy. Istotnym elementem koncepcji
było umiejscowienie obserwatorium na szczycie oraz
wytworzenie motywu kontemplacyjnej drogi dookoła
wzgórza. Do założeń projektu należą, również pogodzenie
charakterystycznych form obserwatoriów z subtelnym
krajobrazem i uzyskanie spójnej korelacji natury i landmarku.
Bryłę budynku tworzą prostopadłościenne monolity spięte
kontrastującym materiałowo oraz zorganizowanym na planie
koła wewnętrznym dziedzińcem okalającym szczyt góry oraz
stanowiącym miejsce nocnych pokazów audiowizualnych
i społecznych interakcji w ciągu dnia.
Astronomical Observatory
in Sopotnia Wielka
The subject of this work is an attempt to re-define the
typology of a contemporary observatory, one which brings
together from all around the country people passionate
about astronomy. It is also a comprehensive response to
there being a lack of a place to conduct group research and
disseminate knowledge on astronomy in the southern part
of Poland. In the theoretical context, an attempt has been
made to explain the issue of light pollution and to introduce
architectural actions that minimise of the negative effects of
artificial light on the dark of the night. An important aspect
of the entire concept was locating the observatory on the
top of a hill and creating the motif of a contemplative path
around the hill. The project also entails finding balance
between the typical observatory shape and the subtle
landscape, and achieving a coherent correlation between
nature and a landmark. The body of the building is made
of cuboid monoliths bound together with a materially
contrasting inner courtyard organised around a circle that
rings the hill’s summit and provides space for audio-visual
shows by night and social interactions by day.
