Z końcem XX wieku nastała era społeczeństwa
sieciowego, w którym dostęp do informacji, wiedzy jest
na wyciagnięcie ręki. Sytuacja ta znacznie wpłynęła
na sposób ich pozyskiwania, model edukacji i kontakty
międzyludzkie, co za tym idzie, zmienia się̨ również̇ rola
obiektów o funkcji bibliotek. W obliczu dynamicznych zmian
społecznych i technologicznych mających dziś́ miejsce,
należy przedefiniować́ sposób postrzegania bibliotek jako
miejsc składowania i ochrony zbiorów. Celem pracy jest
próba redefinicji funkcji i typologii biblioteki jako obiektu
służącego zdobywaniu i wymianie wiedzy, interakcjom oraz
umożliwiającego fizyczny dostęp do informacji, co dziś́ jest
czymś wyjątkowym. Ciągłe zmiany potrzeb użytkowników
sprawiają, że nowopowstający obiekt tego typu powinien być́
elastyczny w formie i funkcji, czego rezultatem jest projekt
modułowej bryły złożonej z elementów prefabrykowanych,
umożliwiającej adaptację do nadchodzacych wymogów.
Parking, na którym zlokalizowany jest projekt, przekształcony
został również̇ w ogród z czytelnią na powietrzu, dostępny
dla mieszkańców okolicznych osiedli.

At the end of the 20th century, we entered the era of the
network society, where access to information and knowledge
is within arm’s reach. This situation has had a tremendous
effect on how we gather knowledge, and also on the model
of education and interpersonal contact. Consequently,
the role of library facilities is changing. Given the dynamic
social and technological changes that take place today,
the perception of libraries as places to store and protect
collections must be altered. This project attempts to redefine
the function and typology of the library as a facility
that serves the gaining and exchanging knowledge, provides
interactions and physical access to information, all of which
is rare today. The constantly changing needs of library users
necessitate the newly-developed facility to be flexible in both
form and function. A response is this design for a modular
building made with pre-fabricated elements, which enables
its adaptation to future needs. The car park, which is the
location of the building, has also been transformed into
a garden with an open-air reading room that will be available
to local residents.
