Meet with
Nala
Smallest Lion at Tiger Kingdom
Nala is the new star at Tiger Kingdom and all she wants to do is
play! A four and half month old baby lion who was born in Chiang Mai
at the end of December 2016, her bond with her caretakers is very
special. Since her birth they have given her the best possible quality
of life, including enrichment through various experiences and
interactions. Most of the time she can be seen teasing the staff.
Nala also likes to play with her blue ball, some timber and stuffed
animals. Young children (120 cm tall and up) and adults can meet this
adorable lion cub at Tiger Kingdom every day. The best time to
go is early morning when there are less visitors at the park (9 am).
Tiger Kingdom Chiang Mai is the place to have an “up close and
personal” experience with the big cats. The memorable experience
lasts 10 to 15 minutes and allows you to take pictures with small,
medium, big or giant tigers, under the supervision of professional
keepers. There are also photo opportunities

STORY
Some History:
Hua Hin means rock or stone head, because of
the low outcrops that appear just like “heads” along
the shoreline. In 1910, Prince Chakrabongse, brother
of King Rama VI, came upon this serene stretch of
coast in Prachuap Khiri Khan province while on a
tiger hunt. Within a decade, the town was in vogue
with Siamese society, boosted by the construction of
the king’s vast Mrigadayavan Palace. Built in 1923,
this huge, now-restored structure, known as the
“longest golden teak palace in the world”, stands in a
Thai Army reserve on the Cha Am beachfront, North
of Hua Hin. It is open to visitors.
Rama VII later built his own summer palace in
town, named Klai Kangwon (“Far From Worries”).
This palace can be seen when entering the city of
Hua Hin from the airport.
Located on the sunrise side of the
Gulf of Thailand, Hua Hin is a quiet
relaxed coastal town, perfect for
family vacations. The city is located
some 150 kilometers South-West of
Bangkok.
A Relaxing At Mosphere:
In contrast to Pattaya, across the Gulf, Hua Hin
lacks the bustle of an international playground
and instead offered a quiet escape. The chance to
relax on a lovely beach and escape the crownds
are main attractions of the city. You can also visit a
fishing village experience the traditional lifestyles of
local communities. If, after your relaxing break you
are hankering for a more lively scene, you can hop
on a ferry and spend a few days in Pattaya, The ferry
between Hua Hin and Pattaya runs three times per
week.
Hua Hin’s beaches are long and pristine, So far,they
remain unravaged by massive tour group invasion
and lethal, hooning watercraft. The view in front of the
Centara Grand Resort (the first hotel in Hua Hin) and
neighbouring Baan Laksasubha Resort, remains free
of the ranks of umbrellas and beach chairs. Other
area in the resort city offer high class beach furnitures
and services.
Activities:
Hua Hin is a charming city with relaxed
atmosphere, it offers some of the finest golf courses
in Thailand (Banyan Golf, Black Mountain Golf),
modern shopping centers (Bluport, Seenspace
Beach Front Mall), plenty of activities (Vana
Nava Water Games, Greenfield Valley Fishing &
Cottage, Sanae Beach Club, Kite Boarding, Hua
Hin Safari), high class spas (Refresh Spa , Let’s
Relax Spa), delicious restaurants, night bazaar
and sparkling nighlife (rooftop bar at Hilton Hotel).
Through Pranburi and down to Prachuap Khiri
Khan there are numerous quiet coves and tiny fishing
villages, ideal destination for day excursions. There
is also Khao Sam Roi Yot (Mountain of 300 Peaks)
National Park, a short way south of Pran Buri.
Covering 60 square kilometres, it is a place of wonder
where the stunning landscape is a breath-taking
blend of forested hills, deep valleys, waterfalls, caves,
beaches, mangrove swamps and coves. A profusion
of tropical vegetation makes the park a sanctuary
for various animals and birds. Tham Phraya Nakhon
cave is the focus of most day trips because it houses
a large pavilion built for Rama V in 1896. Viewed in
the early morning, when the first light breaks through
the openings in the roof of the cave, this pavilion is
a spectacular and often photographed sight. Further
south, Prachuap Khiri Khan, a fishing town with a
scenic bay, is another relaxing spot in the coastline.

Afternoon: Visit Mrigadayavan Palace.
This stunning summer palace
was built for Rama VI in the 1920s.

restaurants along Naresdamri Road (with sea view,

Morning: after breakfast, head to

the current royal house of Chakri.
Each statue is made of bronze and
measures about 14 meters high. A visit will take less
than one hour and after that, if you have children,
your next stop is Vana Nava Water Park.
Vana Nava is an exotic tropical environment with
amazing slides, rides and an incredible choice of 19
attractions including Abyss, the largest water slide in
Thailand, Freefall, Aqualoop, Inner-Tube, Boomerang
as well as a surf zone, rope courses and a climbing

Adults without children may prefer a peaceful day
fishing at Greenfield Valley Fishing and Cottage
Resort. One of Thailand’s most beautiful fishing
resorts, it is an anglers paradise, with lakes full of
large fish from Asia and the Amazon.
Late Afternoon: on the way back to your hotel, stop
for some shopping at Bluport. This newly opened mall
boasts over 500 stores in fashion, beauty, lifestyle
and IT. If you would prefer to put your feet up, why
not spoil yourself a litle more with an amazing spa
package at Refresh Spa (Pechkasem Rd, Hua Hin
soi 55).
Evening: enjoy a cocktail and watch the sunset from
the rooftop Lotus Sky Bar, situated on the 22nd floor
of the Hilton Hotel. Later, dine in style at Prime Steak
Restaurant, only forty meters down from the Hilton
Hotel. Prime’s menu offers a variety of delicious
European dishes, including imported beef and fish,
pasta, salads, desserts and the highest quality whiskey,
cognac and champagne. Don’t miss tasting the
wagyu rib eye, the cod fish or Norway steak salmon.

Park (buy at your hotel’s reception).

Day 3 :
you up and drive you to the beautiful
national park of Sam Roi Yot, some
63 kilometres south of Hua Hin.
Your journey will start at a pineaple plantation, then
continues to a coconut farm where you will see
a trained monkey picking coconuts from palms.
You will then drive to Bang-Pu fishing village from
where a boat awaits to take you out to the open sea.
After 20 minutes you will reach a beautiful stretch of
beach below Tham Phraya Nakhon Cave. The cave
has a gaping through which a shaft of light reaches
and permits the growth of various kinds of plants.
Phra Thi Nang Khuka Kharuhat, a Thai style pavilion,
provides the most attractive view to the cave and has
become the symbol of Prachuap Khiri Khan. It is a
four-porched building first constructed in Bangkok in
1890 during the reign of King Rama V, then dismantled
and moved to the cave where it was reconstructed.
Its gable tops were raised by the King himself.
After this visit, refresh in the sea and enjoy a
traditional one dish lunch at the National Park beach
restaurant. You will be back to your hotel around
14.00.

some gentle body movements which enable the therapist

How did you decide on the concept and design for
Granada Development?
- Quite simply by listening to buyers in order to build a
development around their preferences and not ours. We
bought this piece of land a few years ago, before the price of
land went up. This allowed us to present quality housing at
affordable prices.
What were the main requests from your customers?
- Their first concern was about location. We are located on
main Ring Road 2, at walking distance to Promenada. The
second concern was about house style, because buyers
now enjoy living in luxury modern style houses. At Granada
we have double the inside volumes; we decided to do high
ceilings, large bay windows and enough parking space for
two cars.
Is there any other surprise?
- In addition to being well located Granada Residence is the
perfect investment in Chiang Mai at the moment.
What about price?
- Granada Residence has three kinds of housing: townhomes,
twin houses and separate houses. Our loft style townhomes
offer 150 and 200 square meters for 2.5 and 3.5 floors. Prices
start from 2.8 Million Thai Baht, which is opening price. So,
basically, you can buy a townhome with parking space and a
little garden for less of the price of a condominium.
You are partners both in life and at work. Is it complicated
to work together? What do you see as the main strengths
of each others?
J: - For us it is a pleasure to work together as we complete
each other. My husband’s strength is in his honesty and
profesionalism. Taveedej is a well-established builder who
has built 20 developments, which is over 2,000 properties,
and he has the connections within the building industry. He
knows how to run a building site and to complete properties
that are built to a very high standard on time. My strength is
in sales and taking clients through the buying and building
process from the first meeting to the handover of the property.
By completing each other, I feel that we can give buyers the
highest level of confidence to purchase.
Can we visit Granada Project now?
- We have started construction and four sample houses
are to be ready within two months. Our sales office is now
open and we are already taking names on a waiting list. We
will start with thirty walk-in-and-stay houses. Everyone is
welcome to visit our sales office which is now open in front
of the project.

A Natural Grand Canyon of Chiang Mai
Nature can create many unexpected wonderful things.
Pha Chor is an area of cliffs 30 metres high, sometimes
nicknamed the Grand Canyon. It was formed millions of
years ago when the Ping River ran through the area and over time
changed course and created a hill. Subsequent erosion created soil
pillars and cliffs of interesting shapes.
Pha Chor is located one and a half hours nice drive from Chiang
Mai to Mae Wang National Park, followed by a few kilometres off
road. The actual site of Pha Chor isn’t huge, but it is unique and
something you don’t see every day. The walk to the site leads down
a stretch of steps through narrow corridors of tall trees and sandy
rocks. It is scenic and quiet, suitable for most people but perhaps
not recommended for elderly people. This natural trail of 900
meters offers a variety of ecological and geological features with signs
written in English. From the starting point you will have a beautiful
view over Chiang Mai’s valley, including Lamphun, Sanpatong and
Doi Inthanon.
Recently, a delegation of government officials visited Pha Chor to
discuss the details required to support an application for the canyon
to be listed as a UNESCO World Heritage Site.
After visiting the canyon you can drive just a few kilometres
further to Guy Sun Ten, which has a similar natural rock sculptures.
While smaller than Pha Chor, it still offers lovely scenery and
different formations of pebbles and rocks that can be viewed from a
lower height. Or you can relax at one of Mae Wang National park’s
many waterfalls: Khun Puay, Pra Duk Daeng, Phong Noy or Phong
Samid. You can also watch the sunset from the dam located right
next to the park’s entry.

Captain chez Segway Gibbon
L ek-Weerapong Sawasdee, est guide chez Segway Gibbon,
dans le jargon de la compagnie il est “captain”. Chaque jour
il partage et fait découvrir aux visiteurs la ville de Chiang Mai
dont le patrimoine, riche de son passé, côtoie un dynamisme
prometteur. Son équipe jeune et dynamique travaille dans la
bonne humeur et la convivialité. Pour Chang Puak Magazine
il raconte ses visites préférées et certains petits secrets de sa
ville natale.
- Qu’est ce qu’un Segway?
Un segway est gyropode auto-balancé, un moyen de
transport amusant et respectueux de l’environnement qui
ne nécessite aucun permis. Après quelques minutes de
formation vous êtes prêt à partir en petit groupe découvrir
l’histoire des plus beaux monuments de la ville de Chiang
Mai. Chaque groupe est accompagné d’un “captain” qui
ouvre la route et commente les lieux. Il y a aussi un “garde de
sécurité” qui ferme le groupe. Un maximum de huit personnes
peut joindre la visite. Créé en 2011, notre marque Segway
Gibbon est devenue une référence incontournable, pionnière du
tourisme durable à Chiang Mai.
- Comment êtes vous devenu “Captain” chez Segway
Gibbon?
Il y a deux ans et demi un ami m’a parlé d’une annonce qu’il
avait lu dans les journaux, Segway Gibbon recrutait. Vu que
je parle anglais et que j’aime tous les sports d’aventure, mon
ami à immédiatement pensé à moi. Je me suis présenté et ai
été sélectionné. Avant de commencer à travailler j’ai suivi une
longue formation, autant au niveau de la sécurité qu’à propos
de l’historique de la ville et de chacun de ses monuments.
- Parlez nous de vous. D’ou êtes-vous originaire et quels
sont vos hobbies?
Je suis né et ai grandi à Chiang Mai. J’ai aussi travaillé à
Singapour chez un antiquaire pour le compte de qui j’ai
voyagé dans toute l’Asie du Sud Est, à la recherche de
pièces de collection. J’aime la nature et les sports d’action.
A mes heures perdues je reste chez moi et m’occupe de ma
plantation de manguiers.
- Ou emmenez vous les visiteurs lorsque vous partez en tour
Segway Gibbon?
Nous partons du bureau de Thapae, en direction du marché de
Sompet, à la découverte des herbes, fruits et légumes locaux.
Ensuite, nous visitons quelques-uns des plus beaux temples de
la ville: Chiang Man, Intakin, Pan Tao et Phra Singh. Nous faisons
un petit break pour goûter des jus de fruis frais et des gâteaux et
finissons par un tour de la vieille ville. Chaque tour est adapté au
groupe: certains clients préfèrent se promener dans les petites rues,
d’autres sont plus gourmands d’histoire de la ville. Et c’est avec
plaisir que j’adapte chaque visite.
- Quels sont les lieux qui plaisent le plus aux visiteurs lorsqu’ils
font un tour de Segway?
Sans hésitation le temple Phra Singh. Tout le monde tombe en
admiration devant le batiment principal et le chedi qui resplendissent
d’or.
- Connaissant bien la ville de Chiang Mai, quel restaurant
recommandriez-vous à un touriste qui arrive?
Pour le déjeuner, j’aime aller au restaurant Ban Huen Phen
(112 Rachamanka Road), j’y commande du Lap Muu et de la
saucisse de Chiang Mai. Le soir, je vais souvent au restaurant Dash
(moonmuang soi 1), leur jardin est sympa et le curry vert délicieux.
- Que préférez-vous dans votre métier?
Le Segway est un moyen ludique et original de visiter Chiang Mai.
J’aime silloner la ville et offrir un moment magique à nos clients. L’excitation
est la première sensation qui les fait vibrer lorsqu’ils montent
sur un Segway Gibbon. Une fois qu’ils métrisent la machine, il ne
leur reste plus qu’à laissez leur esprit vagabonder... C’est alors
le commencement d’une expérience inoubliable.

Greenfield Valley Fishing & Cottage Resort is a
peaceful and relaxing fishing place, located only 20
minutes from Hua Hin city center. This family resort is
one of the most popular fishing lakes in Thailand and
anglers from all around the country come throughout
the year.
The fishing complex was opened seven years ago
by TV presenter and British angling celebrity John
Wilson (M.B.E.). Today, it is managed by his brother,
David Wilson, assisted by Eak-Phanphon Nammonnoi.
Greenfield Valley offers two lakes. The Main Lake 1
is home to a vast selection of Asian and Amazon fish
species, the biggest ones beeing the Arapaima (up to
150 kg) and the Mekong Catfish (up to 100kg). Other
catch in this lake include the Chao-Praya Catfish (up
to 70 kg), the Siamese Carp (up to 30kg), the Amazon
Red-tail (up to 25 kg) and the Aligator Gar (up to 20 kg).
In addition to these big fishes, there are some 26 other
species of sporting fishes including Barramundi, Thai
Red-tails and Marbled Tiher Catfish.
The second lake, often known as the Carp Lake,
is perfect for family fishing. It holds over 15 different
species of fish such as Mekong Catfish, Amazon Red-tail
Catfish, Chanell Catfish (USA), Siamese Carp and Java
Barbs.
