Dear Parents, Guardians, Friends and Family,
This morning I asked the academic staff to send me any items they had for this weekly
newsletter and within a few minutes everything that is in this newsletter was in my inbox. We
truly are a busy, active and learning focused school.
Gingerbread Making in Early Years
In Early Years we have been learning about the story of 'The Gingerbread Man' during the
last two weeks. This week the we explored our senses when we made gingerbread men! We
looked, touched and smelt the ingredients before mixing them together. We talked about
how the ingredients changed when they were all mixed up, exploring that they now felt and
looked different. After we had rolled and cut out our gingerbread men shapes we took them
to the oven to cook. Once they had cooled down we decorated them, counting out two eyes,
one nose, one mouth and three buttons! Finally, we got to explore the all important sense of
taste!! Yummy.
Year 12 University Guidance
The Year 12 students are starting to think about life after Garden International School,
Bangkok. On Monday Rangsit University gave them a presentation and on Tuesday of next
week many of them will attend the UK Universities Fair at the InterContinental Hotel in
Bangkok.

Year 1 and the Gruffalo Crumble
Numicon in First School

First School Staff recently had training on how to use Numicon for Maths development. It is a
fantastic resources all the way from the UK. Much research has been completed related to
the benefits of this resource leading to higher mathematical understanding. The children
have begun to experiment with the tiles and soon they will link them to numbers.
Year 1 and the Weather
Year 1 have been looking at weather patterns in Thailand and comparing weather to the UK.
Today we made our own weather report video's!
School Fayre
Next Saturday, March 18th, we are holding our annual School Fayre. This year the theme is
80s! The fayre will run from 10am to 2pm and will be a fun filled family event. There is a
raffle and there will be performances on the stage from students, teachers….and some
brave parents! Please join us and invite your friends and family.

Year 5 Outdoor Education
Year 5 have been adventurers in Khao Yai this week, trekking 4km through the jungle. It was
quite a challenging walk but they all felt a great sense of satisfaction when they reached the
end. The trek was just one activity in an educational visit that also included milking a cow,
riding a horse and driving bubble boats armed with water canons - great fun!
Year 3 Outdoor Education
Year 3 had two very busy and exciting days of Outdoor Learning in and around Hua Hin last
week. We saw the enchanting King’s palace, the mysterious Luang caves and took a boat
through mangrove forests. Assa was particularly excited as it was the first time she had
been in the ocean! Everyone enjoyed learning, travelling, eating playing and sleeping in a
different environment. Well done Year 3!
Science Investigation in Year 6
This week, Year 6 planned and carried out an investigation relating to their science topic of
'Adaptation and Evolution.' They planned an experiment to test, in a fair manner, how a bird-

like creature may have adapted to eat MnMs! Would a beak work best in the form of
chopsticks, toothpicks or a spoon? Ask our Year 6 pupils to find out!
