Још за жи во та Све тог Са ве, на ме сту где је да нас Пећ ка
па три јар ши ја, осно ван је ме тох ма на сти ра Жи че. Ар хие
пи скоп Ар се ни је, на след ник Све тог Са ве, по ди гао је на
жич ком вла сте лин ству цр кву Све тих Апо сто ла у Пе ћи и пренео
се ди ште ар хи е пи ско пи је у Пећ. Око 1260. го ди не цр ква
је жи во пи са на. Са се вер не стра не овог нај ста ри јег хра ма
у пећ ком ком плек су, ар хи е пи скоп Ни ко дим је око 1320.
го ди не по ди гао цр кву Све тог Ди ми три ја. Ње гов на след ник
ар хи е пи скоп Да ни ло, по зна ти књи жев ник, са гра дио је око
1330. го ди не са ју жне стра не Све тих Апо сто ла храм по свећен
Бо го ро ди ци Оди ги три ји, да би ње му при до дао са ју жне
стра не и ма лу цр кви цу Све тог Ни ко ле. Ис пред три хра ма архи
е пи скоп Да ни ло Дру ги је по ди гао мо ну мен тал ну при прату,
а ис пред ње пирг. У вре ме ар хи е пи ско па Јо а ни ки ја,
1345. го ди не, храм Све тог Ди ми три ја је жи во пи сан. То ком
XIV ве ка у цр кви Све тих Апо сто ла из вр ше не су пре прав ке,
па су не ки де ло ви хра ма на кнад но осли ка ни. По сле тур ског

During the lifetime of Saint Sava was established the estate
(metoh) of the Žiča Monastery, which occupied the location
of the Pa tri ar cha te at Peć. Ar chbis hop Ar se ni je, Sa int Sa va’s succes
sor, built the Church of the Holy Apo stles in Peć and moved
the seat of the Ar chbis ho pric to the town of Peć. The church was
pa in ted around 1260 and in 1320 Ar chbis hop Niko dim had St.
De me tri us’ church con struc ted to the north of the ol dest church
in the Peć monastery com plex. In 1330 his suc ces sor, the re nowned
wri ter Ar chbis hop Da ni lo, had the church de di ca ted to the
Theoto kos Ho deg he tria bu ilt on the so uth si de of the Church of
the Holy Ar chan gels. In addition, he had the small church of St.
Nic ho las con struc ted on the so uth si de as well. Ar chbis hop Da nilo
II had a mo nu men tal ve sti bu le con struc ted in front of all three
chur ches, with a pyrgos in front of the vestibule. In 1345, du ring
the in cum bency of Ar chbis hop Jo an i kije, the Church of Saint Deme
tri us was pa in ted. Du ring the 14 th cen tury, the Church of the
Holy Apo stles was re con struc ted, thus cer tain parts of the church
were painted again. During the Turkish occupation of Serbia, the
mo na stery of the Pa tri ar cha te at Peć was in a dif fi cult si tu a tion.
In 1485 only se ven monks li ved in the mo na stery. In 1557, when
the Pa tri ar cha te at Peć was re sto red, the mo na stery became
