Arheolo{ke aplikacije opazovanja iz zraka in vesolja omogo~ajo dolo~anje zna~ilnosti najdi{~ innjihovo posredno ali neposredno opazovanje. Obravnavane so mo`nosti, ki jih ponujajo sodobni snemalnisistemi, tehnike obdelave podob in te`ave s katerimi se sre~ujemo. Za izbrane okoljske zna~ilnosti je pokazanarazlika med arheolo{kimi najdi{~i in naklju~nimi to~kami, kar omogo~a izdelavo napovedovalnega modela.Napovedovalni model za arheolo{ka najdi{~a je mogo~e zgraditi z upo{tevanjem naklona in ukrivljenostireliefa ter stanja vegetacije.KLJU^NE BESEDEarheologija, Landsat, SPOT, radar, letalska fotografija, daljinsko zaznavanjeABSTRACTApplication of remote sensing in the detection of Maya archaeological sitesRemote sensing is a fast and efficient mean to obtain data over larger and difficultly accessible areas.Archaeological applications of air and space borne earth observation can provide characteristics of sites andtheir indirect or direct observation. In the paper possibilities of contemporary imaging systems, image processingmethodology and problems, are described. For selected environmental parameters the difference betweenarchaeological and random points, that enables the composition of predictive models, is shown. The archaeologicalsite predictive model has to be based on slope and curvature of the relief, supported by the vegetationstatus indicators.KEYWORDSarchaeology, Landsat, SPOT, radar, aerial photography, remote sensing223
