Zato so bile prednosti, ki jih prina{a povezava,zapostavljene in nedosegljive in`enirjem, ki niso napredni uporabniki za delo z GIS podatki. Raz{iritevHEC-GeoRAS programskega orodja ArcGIS pa omogo~a tudi in`enirjem z malo izku{njami s podro~ja GISpripravo prostorskih podatkov o geometriji re~nega korita in poplavnih povr{in na podlagi digitalnega modelaterena. Bolj{e informacije bi lahko uporabili v programskem orodju za natan~nej{e hidravli~ne presojev odprtih vodotokih (HEC-RAS), kasneje pa omogo~ajo tudi ve~jo lo~ljivost izrisa izra~unanih poligonovvodne gladine znotraj struge ter na poplavnih obmo~jih. Orodje je razvil Center za hidrolo{ko in`enirstvo(HEC, Hydrologic Engineering Center) v sodelovanju z In{titutom za raziskovanje okolja (ESRI, EnvironmentalSystem Research Institute). ^lanek prikazuje povezavo GIS orodja s hidravli~nim modelom z uporaboDMT, izdelanega na osnovi podatkov, dobljenih s tehniko LIDAR, ki zagotavlja natan~no topografijo terena,s tem pa bolj u~inkovite hidravli~ne analize.KLJU^NE BESEDEGIS, HEC-GeoRAS, LIDAR, hidravli~ni model, tok odprtih vodotokovABSTRACTUse GIS tools for hydraulic analysis of streamsAlthough hydraulic analysis can benefit from digital terrain models and other GIS data sets, the complexityand unfamiliarity of GIS programs deters hydraulic engineers from using them. Because of that reason benefitsderived from using a GIS to assist in hydraulic analysis are often unavailable to engineers not specialized inGIS knowledge. HEC-GeoRAS allows an engineer with little GIS training to use ArcGIS to develop gemetricdata for import in HEC-RAS and management of exported water surface profile data. The HEC-GeoRASis an ArcGIS extension specifically designed to process geospatial data for use with HEC-RAS. It was developedas a part of the Hydrologic Engineering Center's »New Generation« of hydrologic engineering softwarein cooperation with Environmental System Research Institute (ESRI). In article work with GIS to preparegeometric attribute data of river channel for use in hydraulic model and analysing floodplain polygons ondigital terrain mode was presented. For creating DTM topographic data acquired with LIDAR techniquewas used.
