This val ley is extre mely diver se and rug ged in geo morp ho lo gi cal terms. It has beentrans for med through a num ber of fac tors and pro ces ses, espe cially the thru sting of the Slat na Klip peduring the Oli go ce ne and Lower Mio ce ne, and Neo ge ne tec to nics, as well as the effects of Plei sto ce -ne gla cia tion and Holo ce ne karst for ma tion and slo pe pro ces ses during the Qua ter nary. The cen tralpart of the study con sists of two parts: a re lief analy sis and land form eva lua tion. The geo morp ho lo gi -cal map ping met hod is used to com pre hen si vely col lect mate rial on geo di ver sity through field work anddesk work, espe cially mate rial on relief and land forms, their clas si fi ca tion accor ding to their crea tion andori gin (ge ne sis), as well as the pro ces ses that crea te and res ha pe the se forms. Geo di ver sity com pri -ses the enti re diver sity of the ina ni ma te com po nents of the natu ral world, whe reas heri ta ge is the partof the natu ral world that has a cer tain value. Expe rien ce shows that areas with a great den sity and diver -sity of land forms have grea ter envi ron men tal-pro tec tion impor tan ce becau se indi vi dual forms may bein vari ous deve lop men tal sta ges. The re fo re, the ter rain in the Tri glav Lakes Val ley is divi ded into unitsor geo morp ho lo gi cal com ple xes in terms of morp ho ge ne tic lands ca pe-land form fac tors. A sim ple Swissmet hod that does not requi re spe ci fic data on indi vi dual units was used to eva lua te seven teen geo morp -ho lo gi cal units. It is com pri sed of major or scien ti fic-eva lua tion cri te ria (ra rity, typi ca lity, com pre hen si ve ness,paleo geo grap hi cal value), which were com ple men ted by addi tio nal cri te ria (eco lo gi cal, est he tic, cul tu -ral, and eco no mic value). The total value, which sums up the main and addi tio nal cri te ria, is pre sen teddes crip ti vely becau se this pre ser ves grea ter trans pa rency of the pro ce du re. The result of the relief analy -sis and the eva lua tion of land forms or geo morp ho lo gi cal units is the car to grap hic, tabu lar, grap hic, pic to rial,and des crip ti ve pre sen ta tion of geo morp ho si tes in the Tri glav Lakes Val ley. Eva lua tion of the relief sho -wed that the hig hest geo morp ho lo gi cal value can be ascri bed to qui te varied parts of the val ley. Thelakes and the area around Veli ka Vra ta are eva lua ted as the most impor tant in terms of envi ron men -tal pro tec tion. The latter is impor tant due to a num ber of cor ro sion and gla cial ero sion forms at vari ousdeve lop ment sta ges. This is fol lo wed by the high rocky pla te aus below the Pre ho dav ci Sadd le, espe -cially thanks to its com ple te ness and rare typi cal high-moun tain karst fea tu res, as well as the roc hemou tonnée south of Lake Led vi ca, and area of Glad ki La{t.
