Theperiodicity may be weekly.3) Crop and animal production – EurostatThese are monthly or annual statistics on agriculture, for example:• Statistics on the production of crop products (area under cultivation, quantity produced,yields…)• Milk statistics (quantity of milk collected, use of milk)• Meat production (number of slaughtering, carcass weight…)• Livestock statistics (herd structure, number of heads by category), from 1 to 3 times a year4) Administrative data bases (national and regional), for example:• Integrated Administration and Control System (IACS)• System for the Identification and Registration of the Bovine animals• Organic farming register5) Research and Advisory institutes (public or private), for example:• Agricultural advisors• Research Institutes• Producer organisations• Accounting officesResearch and advisory institutes can usually provide expertise and technical references. Insome countries the producer organisations have also their technicians and experts. Thesecan be useful especially when looking for information on small-scale production with not thatbig economical significance.6) Specific surveysSpecific surveys are based on a sample of farms. The needed information is collectedthrough a questionnaire. If the sample is well designed, the survey provides a set of reliable,robust and comparable results. But this kind of survey may be heavy and expensive to carryout.7) Farm Accountancy Data Network (FADN)The FADN database contains accountancy data issued from the bookkeeping of a sample offarms. In addition to financial data, information on the production of the farm (area, quantity…)is collected.8) Economic Accounts for Agriculture (EAA)The main purpose of the Economic Accounts for Agriculture is to analyse the productionprocess and primary income generated by it. The accounts are therefore based on theindustry concept. The EAA can be used to check the validity of the SO coefficients after theircalculation.The data for calculating the SO coefficients can be taken from one or several sources. TheMember States should also pay attention to use coherent data sources; for example betweenyields and area. In the FSS the area of cereals refers to the field area whereas in the cropproduction survey the yield refers to the harvested area.
