In 1992 he helped to establish the ISH as a research institutionthat later also became a postgraduate faculty, of which he was a dean(1995–2003). Between 1992 and 2001 he was a Senate member of the Facultyof Arts, University of Ljubljana. Between 1992 and 1996 he was appointedby the Ministry of Science and Technology to serve as a national coordinatorof Cultural Studies . In 1994 he was appointed Professor at the Facultyof Arts, University of Ljubljana. Between 2007 and 2010 he was a memberof the Board of Humanities at the Slovenian Research Agency (ARRS), butin 2010 he left the Agency out of protest (the Agency’s policies work towardsthe dismantling of the university and autonomous research fields in Slovenia).He has published many monographs (the latest being Selection from thePast, 2007) and academic articles. His recent research is focused on historicanthropologicalthemes of the 19th century and regimes of historiography.He has received many awards for his scientific and cultural work. In 1999 hewas given the Award of the French Republic for cultural cooperation: Officierdes Arts et des Lettres.He currently holds the job of a full-tenured professor (in the position of aconditional employee notice for the »fault reasons«, without any real foundationor argumentation) at the Faculty of Humanities Koper, Universityof Primorska.Red. prof. dr. Jana S. Rošker (1960) je strokovnjakinja za sinologijoin trenutna predstojnica Oddelka za azijske in afriške študije FF UL.Leta 1988 je doktorirala na Oddelku za sinologijo dunajske univerze. Njenododatno študijsko izpopolnjevanje in raziskovanje je kasneje potekalo naCentru za sinološke študije v Taibeju, na univerzah Beijing in Nankai (L.R. Kitajska) ter na tajvanski Državni univerzi za izobraževanje v Hsinchuju.Njeni raziskovalni interesi so osredotočeni predvsem na področja metodologijemedkulturnih raziskav, tradicionalne kitajske teorije percepcije, kitajskeepistemologije in primerjalne filozofije. Jana S. Rošker (1960) is Professor and Chair of the Department ofAsian and African Studies at the Faculty of Arts, University of Ljubljana,Slovenia. She is an expert in Chinese studies. In 1988 she received her PhDfrom the Department of Sinology at Vienna University in Austria. She thencontinued her studies and research at the Centre for Chinese Studies in Taipei,Beijing University, Nankai University in Tianjin and National HsinchuUniversity of Education.
