AIR POLLUTION IN REPUBLIC OF SERBIA FORTHE PERIOD 2006-2008 YEARNada Babović, Dragan M. Marković,Dragan A. MarkovićFaculty of Applied Ecology Futura, SingidunumUniversityAbstract: Republic of Serbia is still not systematized andcomprehensive data on emissions of pollutants in the air. Among themost significant sources of air pollution in Serbia include the powerplant in Obrenovac and Kostolac, Mining and Smelting Complex Boras well as Oil- Petrochemical Complex in Pancevo. And other areasin Serbia are not exempt from air pollution problems from the simplereason that all polluting substances emitted in the air may betransferred to larger or smaller distances in the environment. Trafficactivity also plays an important role when it comes to broadcastingof pollutants into the air. Thermal power plant in Obrenovac andKostolac as well as Oil-Petrochemical Complex in Pancevo andMining and Smelting Complex Bor are the dominant sources ofsulfur dioxide. Power plants, cement plants, Oil-PetrochemicalComplex in Pancevo, and transport activity are the dominant sourcesof nitrogen oxides. In the period 2006-2008. exceeding the emission limit values (GVI)for SO 2 in the period of 155 days as measured at Bor, and the excessof GVI for NO 2 measured in Čačak, a period of 52 days. In Užice inthe course of 150 days exceeded GVI for black smoke. All this excessis measured in 2006. year.Key words: SO2/ NO2/ black smoke/ total sedimented particles/PM10~ 52 ~
