METHODS OF PURIFICATION OF WASTEWATER INTHE HYPOTHETICAL EXAMPLE OF A CITYSlađana Delić, Predrag RistićFaculty of Applied Ecology Futura, Singidunum UniversityAbstract: This paper will show how the methods of purification ofwaste water function, giving on the hypothetical example of a citymunicipality. In order to facilitate development of this paper, we willsimply call this fictitious city The City. Not far away from The City, lies The Lake (also hypothetical). It is necessary to specify that thelocation at which The City and The Lake is a plain. Data presentedare not exact nature and can not be used as valid. In order to obtain a starting basis for the authoritative determinationof the parameters for the design of future plant, the available datahas been analyzed in recent years. When dimensioning plant, inaddition to large quantities of wastewater, a significant role plays aconcentration of pollutants and waste water temperature. Waterrecipient of the refined water is the Lake. Required quality of treatedwater from the plant is determined in accordance with the applicableEU regulations, ie. the Directive on urban waste water treatmentnumber 91/271/EEC. Mechanical and biological treatment has beenadopted for the purification of waste water treatment. Applyingtechnology (method) treatment which is the subject of this work, theoutput of the plant will get purified water (effluent) quality asdefined in this paper with wich the key parameters correspond to theprovisions of EU Directive on municipal wastewater to treatment, number 91/271/EEC.Key words: environment/pollution/water resources/degradation ofhydrosphere/ purification methods~ 500 ~
