Theirenhancement would simultaneously improve the urban image, whichis so important to large cities. This would be very useful especially tothe city such as Belgrade.This paper is the result of scientific research and analysis of themost significant factors that define development of a specific urbansystem comprised of both existing and new, not yet completelyestablished green spaces in the central zone of Belgrade, withinavailable open spaces that would present a starting point forestablishing complex and dynamic green infrastructure of the city ofBelgrade. Apart from the analysis of the potentials already presentin the existing urban green spaces, requirements which urban openspaces have to meet in order to be converted into various categories,types and kinds of open green plant-covered spaces are also set. Thepaper also discusses different management techniques aimed atproviding high functionality of the whole system and optimal benefitsfor the city as a whole.Key words: Urban open spaces/ Parks/ Green InfrastructureUVODPoznato je da su zelene površine Beograda, kao i u drugimvelikim gradovima sveta, neposredno zavisne od osnovnihstrukturnih elemenata i ukupne veličine prostora koji se moženazvati zelenim. Uopšteno govoreći, zelene zone gradova utoliko suvrednije i ekološki korisnije ukoliko su pojedinačno posmatranoveće, u prostornom smislu ravnomernije raspoređene, a u biološkompogledu sastavljene od zdravih, fiziološki aktivnih i zelenom masombogatijih biljaka. Iz tog stava neposredno proizilazi obaveza da setakvim površinama obezbede odgovarajući dovoljno veliki i efikasnorazmešteni prostori unutar gradskog jezgra, naročito na delovimaurbanih sadržaja koji je po prirodi stvari uvek smešten u središtuurbane aktivnosti; stanovanja, trgovine, saobraćaja ili kulture.
