Their common proportion ranges from 71% to 100%. Thesetree species proved the best in the afforestation of the studiedlocalities. Also ZACHAR et al. (1969, 1973) confirmed that Austrianpine together with Manna ash are the most suitable tree species forthe afforestation of the most extreme abandoned lands on all kinds ofparent rock. In addition to trees, there occur on the plots also shrubsas Common juniper, European cornel, Whitebeam, Europeanbarberry and Hawthorn.Fig. 2 Numbers of trees per 1 ha of experimental plotsaccording of age3.2 Height and diameter growth of tree speciesHeight and diameter growth characterizes the best not onlyevery tree species but also the quality of site, where respective treespecies grow. Austrian pine reaches the greatest height (Fig. 3), andparticularly in the locality Periská it is about 5-12 m at the age of 20-38 years. Mean height increment is 0.25-0.32 m. Scots pine reacheslower height by about 2 m. Manna ash reaches markedly lowerheights, namely in the locality Periská at the age of 20-27 years onlyabout 3 m, and in the locality Hrhov at the age of 32-35 years about~ 363 ~
