SUPPORTING EU POLICY IN 2004 – 2013 PERIODThe program of afforestation of agricultural land with standardtype of trees is in line with forestation policy of SR and with EUmeasures, and it is aimed at supporting forestry, which shouldcontribute to reconstruction and development of ecological andsocial functions of forests in rural areas. Purpose of the firstafforestation of agricultural land is to extend and improve forestresources in order to protect the environment and mitigate climatechange. Any first afforestation should be adapted to local conditionsand should be in harmony with the environment and enhancebiodiversity.
