Management (GDP AFWM) in year 1945. This plan had beenimplemented for over 20 years.Afforestation in Europe is performed for different reasons. Therefore, this paper process literary sources about methods offorestation implemented in Europe on the basis of analysis of causes. We processed these sources by method of eliminating induction in away that points out the most important determinants of forestationand influence on afforestation. By method of deduction we haveelaborated a suggestion for measures increasing the synergy ofeffects of this process on rural areas and on inhabitants of rural areas.1. AFFORESTATION PROGRAMSThe main aim of GDP AFWM was to finally resolvedistribution of land resources of the country in terms of mostefficient use of each hectare of land. The goal of the plan was also toaddress the issue of long-term development of agriculture, forestryand water management, such as delimitation of land resources, zoning of agricultural production, water and forest ameliorativemeasures, fertilization of lands destroyed and devastated in the past, soil protection from erosion, the question of purity of our streams, clean air, the possibility of increasing water supplies of the countryetc. The program was a key document for the gradual elimination ofgaps in the protection and use of land resources. It became thestarting point for a new distribution of cultures, the economicpotential of land use and intensification of agricultural and forestryproduction. It was aimed at eliminating the negative consequences ofhuman land use, including reducing damage to the naturalenvironment. Despite some shortcomings in the selection of sites forafforestation, including the legal proprietary settlement, we canconclude that by afforestation, an important part of devastated landwas returned to the forestry. After adoption of GDP AFWM on basis of project of generaldelimitation of land resources according to Government Decree No.606/1961, Slovakia has set to reforest 262,000 hectares of land. From this acreage, 49.10% falls within eroded soil, 34.79% for lowproductiveland, 10.77% for soils in the aquatic areas, 4.84% for land~ 339 ~
