MEANDERS TAMISDimitrijević Vojkan,Faculty for Applied Ecology Futura, Singidunum UniversityAbstract: The left and right banks of the river Tamis from theRomanian border to the mouth, including the 15 settlements (JasaTomic, Boka, Tomasevac, Neuzina, Botos, Tomasevac, Orlovat,Idvor, Farkazdin, Sakule, Opovo, Sefkerin, Glogonj, Jabuka andPancevo) and four municipalities (Pancevo, Zrenjanin, Opovo andmemory) share similar problems related to the status of theenvironment (river and the entire basin). On the river Tamis thereare many generators of environmental pollution. Some of the majorindustrial plants, farms, farm more or less, numerous ponds, urbansettlements and others.They pollute the water mass itself as the river Tamis, andsurrounding land. Because this is the definition of ecological statusof the river Tamis and proposed a rational and optimal use ofnatural resources of river basins of great importance and set it as animperative.As the still water Tamis (42) rare natural potential in this part ofVojvodina, and the modern understanding of environmental, waterresource and coastal regions have a very great importance for theenvironment, Tamis meanders should be seen as an importantecological resources in the territory of Vojvodina. These areas arethe habitat of many plant and animal species. Bearing in mind theuniversal importance of preserving biodiversity, it is understandablethat we must strive as a small disturbance of natural conditions onthe river banks and coastal areas.Key words: Tamis/ meanders/ environmental pollutionUVODReka Tamiš je najveća banatska reka koja ima sliv površine 10352 km 2 i tok dužine 339.7km, od toga 118km u Srbiji (od JašeTomića do ušća u Dunav).
