Training programme comprises watch at sea and watch in the port under control of senior engineer. Instructions for watchkeeping<br />

are mentioned in resolutions 2 I 4 of the STCW convention for all duties of an engineer on watch.<br />

Duty engineer must give instructions to provide highest standards of safety and efficiency.<br />

It is important to record every movement and action especially during manoeuvring. In case of an accident (collision, run aground,<br />

etc.) logbook can be used as an evidence.<br />
