GUIDELINES FOR COMPLETION OF THE RECORD BOOK<br />
TASKS OF FAMILIARIZATION<br />
A cadet should complete tasks listed bellow as soon as possible after joining a ship. The scope of these tasks is familiarization with<br />
the location of the equipment on the bridge, as well as the location of communicational equipment and all systems regarding safety<br />
of the navigation.<br />
The scheme of the navigating bridge with equipment and the scheme of all decks with symbols for firefighting equipment and<br />
lifesaving appliances must be drawn on the paper. Verified schemes must be enclosed with the Record Book.<br />
1. SAFETY<br />
Knowledge of the international and national regulations has great importance regarding safety at sea. The precaution measures<br />
referring to listed tasks must be studied in the beginning of the training. Special attention should be paid to the preparation for<br />
emergency steering and change over to emergency steering.<br />
A cadet should perform his tasks under supervision until he gains sufficient experience.<br />
2. OPERATING WITH LIFESAVING APPLIANCES<br />
Listed tasks should be performed during launching and abandon ship drills. A cadet should not command in the drills until he gains<br />
experience and becomes acquainted with all the duties of the crew during the drill.<br />
3. FIRE PROTECTION AND FIREFIGHTING EQUIPMENT<br />
Thorough knowledge regarding handling with firefighting equipment is necessary for practical performance during drills on board.<br />
After gaining experience a cadet should be given an opportunity to command firefighting teams.<br />
