MAZINGIRA, MVUA NA RUTUBA YA UDONGO<br />

Mazingira na mikoa inayofaa kilimo <strong>cha</strong> soya<br />

Soya inaweza kulimwa katika sehemu zote zenye sifa na zinazofaa<br />

kwa kilimo <strong>cha</strong> maharage na mahindi. Sifa hizo ni pamoja na<br />

mvua ya kutosha, udongo usiotuamisha maji na udongo tifutifu<br />

usio na m<strong>cha</strong>nga mwingi. Kutokana na kuwepo kwa maeneo<br />

mengi nchini yenye sifa hizo, ni dalili kuwa <strong>zao</strong> la soya linaweza<br />

kustawi katika maeneo hayo ambayo yapo karibu nchi nzima.<br />

Jambo muhimu linalotakiwa ni kufahamu na kup<strong>and</strong>a aina za<br />

soya zinazofaa katika eneo husika kulingana na maelekezo ya<br />

wataalamu. Kwa sasa mikoa inayoongoza kwa kilimo <strong>cha</strong> soya<br />

ni Ruvuma, Mbeya, Rukwa, Iringa na Morogoro. Mikoa mingine<br />

yenye uwezo na sifa za kuzalisha soya ni Tanga, Mtwara, Lindi,<br />

Kagera, Mara, Kigoma, Kilimanjaro, Arusha na Manyara (Mchoro<br />

Na. 1).<br />

Kwa mujibu wa tathmini iliyofanywa na Wizara ya <strong>Kilimo</strong> na<br />

Chakula mwaka wa 2005, zaidi ya tani milioni mbili za soya<br />

zinaweza kuzalishwa kwa mwaka endapo maeneo yote ya nchi<br />

yanayofaa kwa kilimo <strong>cha</strong> soya yakitumika ipasavyo. Uzalishaji wa<br />

sasa unakadiriwa kuwa tani elfu tano (5,000). Kiwango hiki <strong>cha</strong><br />

uzalishaji ni <strong>cha</strong> chini sana ukilinganisha na kiwango kinachoweza<br />

kufikiwa. Aidha, kiasi hiki kidogo na uwezo unaoweza kufikiwa ni<br />

<strong>cha</strong>ngamoto katika kuongeza uzalishaji na matumizi ya <strong>zao</strong> hilo.<br />
