INFORMATION FOR AUTHORS AND GUIDELINES FOR THE PREPARATION OF<br />

MANUSCRIPTS FOR THE SCIENTIFIC REVIEW IN PHARMACY<br />

1. SCIENTIFIC REVIEW IN PHARMACY is a peer-reviewed<br />

transdisciplinary journal covering the fields of pharmacy, medicine<br />

and related sciences. The journal publishes conference<br />

reports and materials, conference announcements, as well as<br />

letters to the Editor.<br />

2. All manuscripts should be sent to the Editor, both in a printed<br />

and an electronic form. Electronic versions of articles are to be<br />

sent to kolegium.redakcyjne@kwiecinski.pl or supplied on<br />

CD-ROM disks. Printed copies (together with tables, diagrams<br />

and figures) should be addressed to:<br />

Disk label should contain the first name(s) and surname(s)<br />

of the Author(s), and the title of the paper. Text and graphics<br />

should be included in separate files. Do not paste pictures and<br />

graphics to text files. The Editor advises to use Star Office,<br />

Word, or Word Perfect. The acceptable graphics format is *.<br />

TIFF, color: CMYK resolution: 300 dpi.<br />

3. All submitted manuscripts are reviewed initially by the Editorin-Chief.<br />

The Authors are encouraged to suggest their reviewers,<br />

however the final selection of a reviewer is up to the Editorial<br />

Board. The Editor-in-Chief reserves the right to correct or<br />

abbreviate the text (after the Author’s approval).<br />

Authors are requested to resubmit the revised manuscript<br />

within four weeks. Papers that are not resubmitted within<br />

four weeks will be treated as a new submission.<br />

The manuscript that has been rejected by the Scientific<br />

Review in Pharmacy should not be resubmitted.<br />

4. A cover letter should be included with the manuscript, containing<br />

a declaration that the manuscript has not been previously<br />

published in print or electronic format and is not under consideration<br />

by another journal or electronic medium, signed by all<br />

the Authors. It should also include written approval from the<br />

head of the institution in which the study was conducted.<br />

5. All human and animal research will have obtained ethical consent<br />

from the local Bioethical or Ethical Committee.<br />

6. The material sent in and the review will remain among the<br />

documentation of the Board of Editors.<br />

7. Editor purchases, on the basis of exclusiveness, the whole<br />

of the copyrights for the published papers (including the right<br />

to publishing in print, on electronic media, such as CD-ROM<br />

disks, and on the Internet). Reprinting the paper summaries is<br />

allowed without any written permission of the Editor.<br />

8. Instructions for authors:<br />

8.1. Manuscript Page Setup<br />

• Paper: white, A4 format.<br />

• Margins: 2.5 cm (top, left, right, bottom)<br />

• Font: Times New Roman, no smaller than 12 points.<br />

• Text: Double-spaced, one side of the page only.<br />

• Numbering: Insert page numbers at bottom right of each<br />

page.<br />

• Paragraphs: Indent first line 12.7 mm. Do not use an extra<br />

line space between paragraphs.<br />

• Subheads: All subheads should be flush with the left margin,<br />

with one line above. Indent first line after a subhead. Use an<br />

extra line space between the subhead and the text.<br />

• Title or Heading of the article: boldface, on separate<br />

line.<br />

• Second-level subhead: boldface, on separate line.<br />

• Third-level subhead: italic, on separate line.<br />

8.2. Organization of Manuscript<br />

• Title page should include: submission date and Author(s)<br />

full names, i.e. first name(s) and surname(s), Authors’<br />

full current affiliations (for papers with multiply authors,<br />

please e<strong>numer</strong>ate the authors and their affiliations in the<br />

following way: Author 1 , Author 2 , etc; 1 Affiliation, 2 Affiliation,<br />

etc.). Affiliations should contain the full name of the institution.<br />

One corresponding author must be designated for<br />

papers with coauthors. At the bottom of the page the full<br />

name, academic degrees/titles, and address of the corresponding<br />

author should be given, including the telephone<br />

number, fax number and/or e-mail address. If research<br />

has been funded, please indicate the source of funding<br />

(including grant index/symbol, grant agencies, corporations,<br />

or sponsors).<br />

• The second page should include an abstract (150-250<br />

words). The abstract must be self-contained, and must not<br />

require reference to the paper to be understood. The abstract<br />

should present objectives and scope of the study or<br />

reasons for writing the paper. The methods and techniques<br />

or approaches should be described only to the extent necessary<br />

for comprehension. The findings and conclusions<br />

should be concise and informative. The abstract should<br />

be followed by the key words consistent with the Medical<br />

Subject Headings Index Medicus, and should not contain<br />

unfamiliar terms that are not defined, undefined acronyms<br />

and reference citations. Neither displayed equations or<br />

lists should appear in the abstract.<br />

• Body text should be organized as follows:<br />

original paper - introduction, material and methods descriptions,<br />

research results, discussion;<br />

review papers – free structure;<br />

case studies – introduction (motivation for the study), case<br />

descriptions, discussion of the characteristic symptoms,<br />

treatment results etc.<br />

• Figures (diagrams, drawings, color or black-and-white<br />

photographs) should be put into a separate envelope. On<br />

each figure there should be its number (Arabic <strong>numer</strong>als),<br />

the name(s) of the author(s) paper title, and “top” marking.<br />

Figure captions should be placed on separate pages and<br />

numbered consecutively using Arabic <strong>numer</strong>als. Previously<br />

published visual materials should be supplied together<br />

with the written consent of the Publisher for reprint.<br />

• Tables, each on a separate page, should be numbered<br />

using Roman <strong>numer</strong>als and preceded by their captions.<br />

Table captions should be placed on separate pages, numbered<br />

using Roman <strong>numer</strong>als.<br />

• The papers should not exceed the following limitations:<br />

original and review work – 10 pages and others – 5 pages.<br />

8.3. References to the works cited should be presented at the<br />

end of the paper and arranged according to the sequence<br />

of citations in the body text. The acronyms for journal titles<br />

should be used according to Index Medicus. Each entry,<br />

starting with a new line, should be given a number and<br />

must be presented as follows:<br />

References to the works cited within the text should be numbered<br />

using Arabic <strong>numer</strong>als and placed between brackets,<br />

e.g. [1]. The references should not exceed the following limitations:<br />

original work – 20, review – 30 and others – 10 bibliography<br />

entries.<br />
