The task entiteld » Verification of the excavation in the coal mine Hrastnik« consists in describing the formation Zasavje
coal mine basin. Followed by chronological overwiev of the major milestones in the history of the coal mine in Hrastnik.
Description of the excavation methods that were used in the mine Hrastnik, description non- excavation excavation coal
reserves, and the possibility of reopening the mine Hrastnik, positive efect of re-opening, layers of coal mine in Hrastnik
and continued production of electricity from domestic coal.
Introduction:
Zagorje, Trbovlje, Hrastnik and Dol are lies in the middle of Posavje hills to the northwest gradually through
Trojane and Lipovec, passes into the foothills of the Savinjske Alps. Between the folds Zasavje hills
compressed Zagorje-Laško basin, wich is denoted as Zagorje – Laško synclinal. While wrinkle name given
lithium, relational Trojan anticline. Lithium anticline folds bordering the south side of basin, while Trojane hills
anticline forming the north side and complete basin. Lithium anticline consists of two folds, folds adjacent to the
northern Laško basin ,south of the northern fold and separates the cavity, in wich through runs river Sava. Both
anticlines are age older than the rock basin. The higher parts consist of dark limestones and dolomites triadic
lighter periods. Zagorje – Laško basin was formed in the Tertiary Mesozoic transition. During the period, the
earth layers cause wrinkling and forming ridges, valleys and hills. Between the ridges, which grow in water, they
have developed cracks and valleys, sometimes resulting real landslides.
Collapse cupped shape has led to the formation of Zagorje – Laško basin. As a result, it is submerged in water.
Basin was part of the Pannonian Sea, but since the water level is constatly changing it became an independed
reservoir. Pannonian sea is filled up one of the largest landslide in central Europe. In the bay or in the lake had
accumulated layers which were raising the bottom. In the lower layers of the accumulated vegetation from
which coal is gradually formed. Long periods after the expiration of the basin are dry. Then it began to run
through basin Sava predecessor, who was at the average fault pave the way for the current Rimske Toplice and
Zidani most. Sava has spent way through the watershed in »litijska« anticline. Stara struga river, has dried up
and it was split into tributaries, mellowing, Trboveljšĉica (river) and Boben, which have paved the way to the
Sava river. After a long sponge that followed, the Medija (stream), Trbovljšĉica (stream) and Boben (stream)
formed there own seperate basin.
Zagorje – Laško basin
Important part of the Zagorje basin Zasavje – Laško basin. Its width varies. To the west Izlake is 2.5 km wide, in
Zagorje 3 km, in Klek 1.5 km in Trbovlje 2.5 km in Hrastnik 1.5 km, in Dol 2 km, and east of Dol grows and
reaches a maximum rate at line through Uniĉno – Turje to 4 km. Coal zone is much narrower. Only in Zagorje
and Trbovlje was before mining spread throughout the area and tertiary that was covered younger Tertiary
layers. From Trbovlje basin continued through Ojstro saddle east of the Boben (stream) is a productive zone is
restricted to the northern edge and is the original width of 300 meters, some places even less. Northern boundary
at wich the productive zone touches pseudozilik shale and sandstone, which is largely separated from the triassic
limestones and dolomites, also can be observed in nature. From road Hrastnik sludge are visible layers
pseudozilik slate, which are imposed at the foot of a huge dolomite »Jelenca« massif, which extendds all the way
to Kal and Mrzlica. Northern boundary of the producitve zone is also visible in the seddle Blate, Novi Dol, Loţiĉ
and Krištandolskem Mihaĉevem hils. Border continues to this abyss. On the south side of the basin are
productive layers hit in just one location. Namely, the ash level close the Rimske spa, but it was this very little
coal. Completely in vain have heretofore drilled at various locations basin, an area Hrastnik, Dol and Brezno.
