RECOMMENDATIONS FOR IMPROVEMENT OF THE
SYSTEM OF PREVENTION AND PROTECTION OF VICTIMS
OF HUMAN TRAFFICKING IN THE REPUBLIC OF SERBIA

The actions to be taken with a view to improving the area of data collection
and monitoring of the phenomena of human trafficking are:

• Improve the system of data
collection through coordinated formulation
of issues relevant to monitoring
the phenomenon of human
trafficking;
• Fully involve the Republic
Statistical Office into the system of
data collection, presupposing timely
submission of data on the number of
identified women, men and minors,
their nationality, country of origin,
country of recruitment, country of
exploitation, status in the country of
exploitation and types of exploitation.
In order to gain a comprehensive insight
into the phenomenon, data on
traffickers and their relationship with
the victims, as well as methods of recruitment
should be included. An integrated
data collection process will
provide a comprehensive picture of
the phenomenon of human trafficking
at the national level with the data
on the victims (excluding personal
data) supplemented by the data of
the Ministry of Interior and the Ministry
of Justice on the criminal and le-
The appointed national coordinators
for trafficking in human beings develop
annual reports in their mother
tongues and in English which are then
posted on the Internet to be accessed
by the interested public. The
recommended practice is that sucg a
report be published with the detailed
information on the number of identified
victims and suspected traffickers
as well as the number of persons undergoing
criminal procedures or the
number of verdicts pronounced with
the classification (per sex, age, citizenship,
country of birth, type of exploitation,
etc.).
