such work was worth for. Some of the experts, on the other side, were indifferent and
fainéant, though they had a specific role in the Association history worth of making
a record.
Chapter about activity of the Association members on the lawyers gatherings
organised at the Kopaonik School of Natural Law, Department for property, Section
for Insurance is missing and that explains why the book comprises only fragments
of the Association history. This is despite the fact that Professor Predrag Sulejic and
author of these lines, former and present president of the Association, chaired the
Section for Insurance where over 100 expert and scientific works of our Association
members appeared in the periodicals of 25 annual gatherings until December 2012. 2
Insurance Law Association was the member of the Serbian Lawyers’ Association
who was organiser of this School until entry into force of the Law on Associations in
2009. Subsequently newly founded the Kopaonik School of Natural Law Association
segregated from the Serbian Lawyers’ Association taking over organisation of that
School. This did not affect Association members’ dynamism who continued to be
authors of almost all works published for the purpose of this School in the Serbian
Lawyers’ Association periodical Legal Life (Pravni zivot), and Predrag Sulejic and
myself continued as Editorial board members to review works submitted for Section
“Insurance.” Moreover, chapter dedicated to Association co-operation with the Commercial
Chamber of Serbia, which once established in the close past was successful
one, is missing.
This history is partial mainly because of loss of many documents relating to the
Association work from 1961 to 1998, and persons who were main protagonists in
that period are late without leaving any written trace on that activity. Perhaps, now
when it was late, they should not be reproached for not contemplating that the time
for writing Association history would come, not taking care to save the documents
by handing them over to their closest associates and that they did not leave a written
sketch themselves on that part of the Association history.
This book dedicated to the Association 50-year anniversary only gives breakdowns
of the work per periods, with activity from the nearest past described and
beginning of the activity at the bookend. Therefore, there are no evaluations by the
contributing authors on if any or how much activity there were from the Association
beginnings and per certain periods until today and what mark remained in the insurance
law science. That is our critics’ task and all those who will read the book and /
or those whom work and documents on the Association work are at hand through
articles in the Insurance Law Review magazine, proceedings with works from annual
conferences, works published at the Kopaonik School of Natural Law and other peri-
2
How large opus this was, information that Prof. Predrag Sulejic and myself alone wrote 18 and 21
works respectively for those gatherings speaks for itself (Bibliography of the Kopaonik School of
Natural Law 1987–2012, Belgrade, 2012, pp. 263 and 237).
