FOREWORD
The book we are celebrating with fi fty years of the Insurance Law Association of
Serbia work has been written in the honour of the events that marked main phases
of its establishment and work, of the achievements the Association has reached in
the field of insurance science and of the persons who were main participants of those
events and achievements. Therefore, it is inevitable part of the Serbian insurance history
after the World War 2, that no one in Serbia has designed, merely in a project
form, from establishment of the State Insurance Office in 1945 until today. According
to some sources, Mr. Nikola Nikolic, LLD with his associates and simultaneously
acting as an editor and referee for the thirty-year anniversary of the State Insurance
Office establishment wrote the monograph “Thirty Years of Property and Persons
Insurance in the Socialist Federal Republic of Yugoslavia.” 1 This is why our book may
represent one of the rare volumes of that future, newer Serbian insurance history ever
written.
Book embraces reviews, contributions and essays specially prepared for this
purpose and some contributions singled out from the previously published Association
periodical, when it comes to events, achievements and persons if of a particular
importance for revealing Association history, such fact has a special indication in a
footnote. Reviews, contributions and essays produced particularly for this occasion
prevail. Rest of them published in the past, but not printed herein, have their enumeration
in the Literature at the bookend.
Contributions that found their place in this book represent narrative of the topics
being fragments from and for the Association history. Firstly, because for a certain
events, achievements and persons making Association history, documents, sources
relating to them are missing at the time of writing this book. Those persons could
reflect and round a closer look at the period of activity since establishment of the
chapter of the Yugoslav association for insurance law and Insurance Law Association
of Republic Serbia within the Union of insurance law associations of Yugoslavia in
1961 until reestablishment in 1998 of this independent association into the Insurance
Law Association of Yugoslavia. Secondly, because some participants of its history,
as far as we are familiar with, did not want at all or have accepted to take part in its
writing only partially. This left us to contemplate if that was because they would be in
position to write about less significant parts of the Association history whose proximate
protagonists they were, which would not serve conceit on their role and value
in the Association history or because they would not get paid in as much they believe
