W naszym materiale zaobserwowano utratę stabilizacji 3 z 124 śrub i niewielką osteolizę kostną. Proces ten nastąpił na tyle późno, że osiągnięto zamierzony wstępnie efekt terapeutyczny. Poza osteolizą kości wokół wprowadzonych śrub nie stwierdzono innych powikłań. Niektórzy autorzy w celu przyśpieszenia zabiegu zakładają śruby bikortykalne bez nacinania błony śluzowej (6) i nawiercania blaszki zbitej kości (14). Skraca to czas zabiegu, jednak uważamy że może mieć wpływ na liczbę występujących powikłań. W naszym materiale staraliśmy się w każdym przypadku odsłonić z niewielkiego cięcia kość wyrostka zębodołowego. Pozwoliło to bardziej precyzyjnie określić miejsce wprowadzania śrub i uniknąć traumatyzacji błony śluzowej. Wśród przeciwwskazań do użycia śrub bikortykalnych w piśmiennictwie wymieniane są: wieloodłamowe złamania szczęk (6, 7, 17), brak możliwości ustalenia wysokości zwarcia, rozległe torbiele szczęk i żuchwy, zawiązki zębów stałych w obszarze wprowadzania śrub (2, 7, 9). Podsumowanie Zebrane przez nas doświadczenia związane z stosowaniem zestawu IMF potwierdzają doświadczenia innych. Użycie śrub bikortykalnych IMF jest szybkim, o minimalnej urazowości, alternatywnym w stosunku do szyn nazębnych sposobem leczenia (12, 13, 18). W wybranych przypadkach może stanowić podstawowy sposób leczenia (16) lub służyć jako unieruchomienie tymczasowe (8, 10, 11). Piśmiennictwo 1.
