Daša Drndič se je rodila l. 1946 v Zagrebu. Za njo je več popolnoma<br />

različnih življenj v različnih mestih, različnih državah, ob različnih ljudeh.<br />

Študirala je medicino, se omožila z zobozdravnikom, diplomirala iz anglistike,<br />

se ločila od zobozdravnika, opravila magisterij na dramaturgiji.<br />

Ukvarjala se je z dokumentarno radiofonijo, napisala kakih trideset radijskih<br />

iger, prevajala, poučevala, plavala, pleskala stanovanja, lakirala parkete,<br />

izdelovala pohištvo, se trinajst let intenzivno družila s svojim otrokom,<br />

potem je spet začela pisati. Ne zna kvačkati, zna pa kuhati. Ne da se ji nič<br />

več delati. Ne mara pisati svojega življenjepisa.<br />

Knjige proze: Put do subote (1982), Kamen s neba (1984), Umiranje u<br />

Torontu (1997), Canzone di guerra (1998), Totenwande (Meandar, Zagreb,<br />

2000), Doppelgänger (2002), Leica format (2003).<br />

Trenutno stanuje na Reki. Ne ve prav dobro, kaj tam počne.<br />

Daša Drndić was born in Zagreb, Croatia. From 1953 to 1992 she lived<br />

and worked in Belgrade, Yugoslavia. In 1992 she came to Croatia, then in<br />

1995 emigrated to Canada, and returned to Croatia two years later. She<br />

graduated from the University of Belgrade, Faculty of Philology, Department<br />

of English Language and Literature. As a Fulbright Fellow she completed<br />

her Master’s Degree in Theatre and Communications in the USA.<br />

For over twenty years she worked as editor, producer and writer in the<br />

Drama department of Radio Belgrade. Her radio-plays and feature-documentaries<br />

have been awarded and broadcast throughout former Yugoslavia<br />

and abroad. In 1996 and 1997, for Canadian Broadcasting Corporation<br />

she produced three documentaries (features) – Lost in the Promised<br />

Land, The Church in Croatia, and Children of Our Age. In 2002 her play<br />

Arthur and Isabella (Croatian Radio) participated on »Prix Europa« winning<br />

6 th place. She published prose and poetry in literary journals throughout<br />

former Yugoslavia. She also won the short-story prize of »The European«<br />

in 1993 (Eeeny, meeny, miney, mo – out you go). She translates<br />

books and essays from and into English. A novelist.<br />

Her books of prose include: The Road to Saturday (1982), The Stone from<br />

Heaven (1984), The Black Madonna (1997), Canzone di guerra (1998),<br />

Totenwande (2000), Doppelgänger (2002), Leica format (2003).<br />

She writes literary criticism for the Third Programme of Croatian Radio,<br />

for the literary journal »Zarez« (Zagreb) and the dailies »Novi list« and<br />

»Slobodna Dalmacija«. She is a member of the Croatian Association of<br />

Writers and the Croatian P.E.N.<br />
