whereas others tend to reflect just the current
state of knowledge of the distribution of the
particular habitat. Maps with the most evident gaps
in territorial coverage are completed with pink
dots, which indicate potential distribution, estimated
by overlays of different environmental layers
in the geographical information system.
The habitat description consists of the following paragraphs:

and species composition. Indication of dominant,
diagnostic and other plant species occurring
in the habitat, description of vegetation structure.
Ekologie – Ecology. Description of environmental
factors, particularly bedrock, soil, climate, human
influence and vegetation dynamics.
Roz‰ífiení – Distribution. Overview of main
areas within the Czech Republic where the habitat
occurs.
Variabilita – Variation. Description of variation
within the habitat in terms of environmental factors
and species composition.
Poznámka k mapování – Mapping note.
Suggestions of how to cope with problematic situations
encountered during field mapping.
OhroÏení – Endangerment. List of potential
threats to the habitat.
Management. List of measures, which should be
adapted by nature conservancy to preserve the habitat.
Druhová kombinace – Species combination.
List of diagnostic (Dg), dominant (Dm), and other
species frequently occurring in the habitat. The species
are usually grouped by vegetation layers
or phylogenetic groups.
Literatura – References. Main references from
the Czech Republic, principally synthetic papers
describing the habitat in phytosociological terms.
Distribution maps make use of a 10 x 6’ grid,
i.e. approximately 12 x 11 km. Red dots are based
on vegetation relevés or reliable records not documented
by relevés. Most records originate from
the period between 1960 and 2000, although sites
