after his professional education at University of Natural Resources and Applied Sciences Vienna, being<br />

organized by the Croatian National Foundation for Science, Higher Education and Technology Development<br />

delivered a lecture entitled «Parameter estimation for longevity in diary cattle».<br />

9.5. International cooperation<br />

In the past academic year the employees’ engagement on international level was quite intense, especially<br />

regarding the applying for new projects and further engagement in active projects. Three international<br />

projects within the Norwegian SEE/WB programme are also worth mentioning. The new TEMPUS project<br />

(158875-Tempus-IT-Tempus-JPCR) „International Joint Master Degree in Plant Medicine“ is coordinated by<br />

Professor Edita Štefanić.<br />

Worth mentioning are activities within bilateral cooperation; especially Croatian- Hungarian with four<br />

active projects and Croatian-Serbian with six active bilateral projects. Another important international<br />

project is the one within SEEDNet (Swedish International Agency for international developement and SIDA)<br />

entitled „Network for development of plant genetic resources in SIEurope“ coordinated by Professor Nada<br />

Parađiković, being regional coordinator of Working group for vegetables that is in chage of Eastern Croatia.<br />

Within COST there are two active projects and these are FA0604 - TritiGen (national representative is<br />

Professor Sonja Marić) and FA0605 project entitled „Signaling Control of stress tolerance and production of<br />

stress protective compounds in plants“ (national representative is Professor Tihana Teklić); as well as FA802<br />

Feed and Health (national representative is Professor Marcela Šperanda).<br />

Within scope of professional education in this reporting period six young scientists paid a visit to several<br />

research institutions. Andrijana Eđed was in Perth /Australia at the School of Earth and Environment,<br />

University of Western Australia for a poeriod of one year; Boris Lukić took part in the Erasmus programme in<br />

animal genetics and genomics at Roslin Institute, University of Edinburg, UK, whereas Miroslav Lisjak spent<br />

two months of professional training at the Faculty of Applied Sciences, University of the West England,<br />

Bristol, UK. Nikola Raguž took three month professional education programme at BOKU, Institut fur<br />

Nutztierwissenschaften in Vienna, Austria. Sonja Petrović was at Research Institute of Hungarian Academy of<br />

Sciences, Martonvasar (Hungary), Ankica Sarajlić at Universitat de Lleida, Department de Producció Vegetal<br />

i Ciència Forestal (Spain). Within the project Education, Research and Training for Global Environmental<br />

Change and Sustainable Management of Natural Resources in West Balkan Professor Mirko Stjepanović and<br />

Ranko Gantner participated in the acitivites of the seventh workshop in Sarajevo.<br />

Professor Marcela Šperanda delivered lectures as invited speaker at the Faculty of Veterinary Medicine in<br />

Belgrade, as well as during 13th international symposium „Feed technology“ held in Novi Sad. Professor<br />

Boris Antunović delivered a lecture during 18th International Symposium Animal Science Days in Kaposvar<br />

in Hungary. Professor Tihomir Florijančić delivered a lecture as invited speaker at PMF, University of Novi<br />

Sad.<br />

In this reporting period several international delegations paid a visit to our Faculty within bilateral project<br />

cooperation (Croatian-Hungarian, Croatian-Serbian). Within the project „Education, Research and Training<br />

for Global Environmental Change and Sustainable Management of Natural Resources in West Balkan“ we<br />

organized sixth tematic workshop „Achieving Successful Project Outcomes“ and hosted colleagues from<br />

akin faculties in Belgrade, Sarajevo, Skopje, Novi Sad and Norwegian University of Life Sciences.<br />

With the aim to establish future contacts within research and science our representatives visited several<br />

institutions abroad, such as the French Institute INRA, Laboratory for investigation of feeding and<br />

metabolism of ruminants (Professor Marcela Šperanda); University of Debrecen (Professor Bojan Stipešević).<br />

The representatives of the Faculty of Agriculture, Professor Vlado Guberac and Professor Sonja Marić visited<br />

Szent Istvan University Gödöllö in Hungary in April this year and signed Agreement on cooperation. Lady<br />

Rector, Professor Gordana Kralik and Professor Sonja Marić took part in the inaugural Conference of CASEE<br />

network held at BOKU Vienna, Austria in May 2010.<br />
