9. SUMMARY
Faculty of Agriculture as University unit has been established in 1960; since that time its main scope of
activity refers to continuous teaching, scientific activities as well as to cooperation with the agricultural sector.
Regular reports on its annual activities and achievements have been presented since 2003 in the publication
entitled “Annual Report of the Faculty of Agriculture“, as initiative of Professor Rudolf Emert, who was Dean
of the Faculty of Agriculture at that time. This tradition has been maintained up to the present time; so in the
eight edition «Annual Report of the Faculty of Agriculture 2009-2010“ all teaching, scientific, professional,
international, publishing and student activities have been presented.
9.1. Organization and employees
In the academic year 2009/10 Professor Vlado Guberac, Tenured Professor and employee of the Department
for Plant Production holds the position of the Dean. The Vice Deans are as follows: Vice Dean for Education
is Professor Tomislav Jurić (employee of the Department for Agricultural Technique); Vice Dean for Science
is Full Professor Zdenko Lončarić (employee of the Department for Agroecology); Vice Dean for Professional
studies is Associate Professor Darko Kiš (employee of the Department for Machanization); Vice Dean for
International Affairs is Full Professor Sonja Marić (employee of the Department for Plant Production). Ms
Biserka Stanisavljević serves as academic secretary at the Faculty of Agriculture. According to the Statute
the Faculty Council’s members are all full, associate and assistant professors. On 30th September 2010 there
are 94 Faculty Council members, 50 of which are full professors, 16 are associate professors, 18 assistant
professors, 2 teacher representatives, 3 representatives of teaching associates and 5 student representatives.
Ten regular sessions of the Faculty Council and one irregular session have been held in this reporting period.
Departments and chairs are considered holders of all scientific, teaching and professional activities. In
line with the Senate Decision (2006) in 2009/2010 there are 11 departments and these are: Department for
Agroeconomics, Department for Plant Production, Department for Chemistry, Department for Chemistry,
Biology and Soil Physics, Department for Hunting, Fishery and Beekeeping, Department for Mechanization,
Department for Agriculture Technique, Department for Special Zootechnique, Department for Cattle
Breeding, Department for Agroecology and Department for Plant Protection. Beside above mentioned units at
the Faculty there is also Chair for Foreign Languages and Information Science, as well as Sports Department.
Basic support has been given by the Central Administration Office with its units for general and personnel
affairs, student affairs, accounting, library, technical support and maintenance.
In the academic year 2009/10 there are altogether 219 employees at the Faculty of Agriculture; 158 of which
have been involved in scientific and teaching process, whereas 61 are in charge of so called non-teaching
activities. According to the educational background there are 40,2% employees with PhD degree, 8,2% with
MSc, 26% with MA, 2,3% with BA degree, 19,7% employees with secondary school education and 3,6%
unskilled workers. According to scientific and professional degree there are 22,8% full professors, 7,3%
associate professors, 8,2% assistant professors, 4,9% lecturers and senior lecturers, 12,8% assistants and 9%
young researchers. There are 5,5% teaching assistants, 5,5% technical assistants, 11% staff being in charge of
administrative, accounting activities and 9,6% technical staff.
Due to academic appointments there is obvious change in scientific and teaching structure in comparison
to 2008/2009. So, we report ten more full professors, two of whom are tenured professors; five assistant
professors have been appointed associate professors, four professors have been appointed assistant professors
and there is one senior teaching associate.
Our assistants and young researchers represent the youngest scientific and teaching potential with 22%
of all employed, actually the percentage has remained the same as in the previous academic year. In this
academic year there is still lack of teaching assistants, lack of space and adequate premises. However, further
„rejuvenation“ of the staff is expected, being of course in line with the Bologna process.
