ਗਉੜੀ ਮਹਲਾ ੯ ॥
गउड़ी महला ९ ॥
ga-orhee mehlaa 9.
Gauree, Ninth Mehl:
ਨਰ ਅਚੇਤ ਪਾਪ ਤੇ ਡਰੁ ਰੇ ॥
नर अचेत पाप ते डरु रे ॥
nar achayt paap tay dar ray.
You people are unconscious; you should be afraid of sin.
ਦੀਨ ਦਇਆਲ ਸਗਲ ਭੈ ਭੰਜਨ ਸਰਿਨ ਤਾਿਹ ਤੁਮ ਪਰੁ ਰੇ ॥੧॥ ਰਹਾਉ ॥
दीन दइआल सगल भै भंजन सरिन तािह तुम परु रे ॥१॥ रहाउ ॥
deen da-i-aal sagal bhai bhanjan saran taahi tum par ray. ||1|| rahaa-o.
Seek the Sanctuary of the Lord, Merciful to the meek, Destroyer of all fear. ||1||Pause||
ਬੇਦ ਪੁਰਾਨ ਜਾਸ ਗੁਨ ਗਾਵਤ ਤਾ ਕੋ ਨਾਮੁ ਹੀਐ ਮੋ ਧਰੁ ਰੇ ॥
बेद पुरान जास गुन गावत ता को नामु हीऐ मो धरु रे ॥
bayd puraan jaas gun gaavat taa ko naam hee-ai mo Dhar ray.
The Vedas and the Puraanas sing His Praises; enshrine His Name within your heart.
ਪਾਵਨ ਨਾਮੁ ਜਗਿਤ ਮੈ ਹਿਰ ਕੋ ਿਸਮਿਰ ਿਸਮਿਰ ਕਸਮਲ ਸਭ ਹਰੁ ਰੇ ॥੧॥
पावन नामु जगित मै हिर को िसमिर िसमिर कसमल सभ हरु रे ॥१॥
paavan naam jagat mai har ko simar simar kasmal sabh har ray. ||1||
Pure and sublime is the Name of the Lord in the world. Remembering it in meditation, all
sinful mistakes shall be washed away. ||1||
ਮਾਨਸ ਦੇਹ ਬਹੁਿਰ ਨਹ ਪਾਵੈ ਕਛੂ ਉਪਾਉ ਮੁਕਿਤ ਕਾ ਕਰੁ ਰੇ ॥
मानस देह बहुिर नह पावै कछू उपाउ मुकित का करु रे ॥
maanas dayh bahur nah paavai kachhoo upaa-o mukat kaa kar ray.
You shall not obtain this human body again; make the effort - try to achieve liberation!
ਨਾਨਕ ਕਹਤ ਗਾਇ ਕਰੁਨਾ ਮੈ ਭਵ ਸਾਗਰ ਕੈ ਪਾਿਰ ਉਤਰੁ ਰੇ ॥੨॥੯॥੨੫੧॥
नानक कहत गाइ करुना मै भव सागर कै पािर उतरु रे ॥२॥९॥२५१॥
naanak kahat gaa-ay karunaa mai bhav saagar kai paar utar ray. ||2||9||251||
Says Nanak, sing of the Lord of compassion, and cross over the terrifying world-ocean.
