ਜੋਗ ਜਗ ਿਨਹਫਲ ਿਤਹ ਮਾਨਉ ਜੋ ਪਰ੍ਭ ਜਸੁ ਿਬਸਰਾਵੈ ॥੧॥
जोग जग िनहफल ितह मानउ जो पर्भ जसु िबसरावै ॥१॥
jog jag nihfal tih maan-o jo parabh jas bisraavai. ||1||
Know that Yoga and sacrificial feasts are fruitless, if one forgets the Praises of God. ||1||
ਮਾਨ ਮੋਹ ਦੋਨੋ ਕਉ ਪਰਹਿਰ ਗੋਿਬੰਦ ਕੇ ਗੁਨ ਗਾਵੈ ॥
मान मोह दोनो कउ परहिर गोिबद के गुन गावै ॥
maan moh dono ka-o parhar gobind kay gun gaavai.
One who lays aside both pride and attachment, sings the Glorious Praises of the Lord of
the Universe.
ਕਹੁ ਨਾਨਕ ਇਹ ਿਬਿਧ ਕੋ ਪਰ੍ਾਨੀ ਜੀਵਨ ਮੁਕਿਤ ਕਹਾਵੈ ॥੨॥੨॥
कहु नानक इह िबिध को पर्ानी जीवन मुकित कहावै ॥२॥२॥
kaho naanak ih biDh ko paraanee jeevan mukat kahaavai. ||2||2||
Says Nanak, the mortal who does this is said to be 'jivan mukta' - liberated while yet alive.
||2||2||
ਿਬਲਾਵਲੁ ਮਹਲਾ ੯ ॥
िबलावलु महला ९ ॥
bilaaval mehlaa 9.
Bilaaval, Ninth Mehl:
ਜਾ ਮੈ ਭਜਨੁ ਰਾਮ ਕੋ ਨਾਹੀ ॥
जा मै भजनु राम को नाही ॥
jaa mai bhajan raam ko naahee.
There is no meditation on the Lord within him.
ਿਤਹ ਨਰ ਜਨਮੁ ਅਕਾਰਥੁ ਖੋਇਆ ਯਹ ਰਾਖਹੁ ਮਨ ਮਾਹੀ ॥੧॥ ਰਹਾਉ ॥
ितह नर जनमु अकारथु खोइआ यह राखहु मन माही ॥१॥ रहाउ ॥
tih nar janam akaarath kho-i-aa yeh raakho man maahee. ||1|| rahaa-o.
That man wastes his life uselessly - keep this in mind. ||1||Pause||
ਤੀਰਥ ਕਰੈ ਬਰ੍ਤ ਫੁਿਨ ਰਾਖੈ ਨਹ ਮਨੂਆ ਬਿਸ ਜਾ ਕੋ ॥
तीरथ करै बर्त फु िन राखै नह मनूआ बिस जा को ॥
tirath karai barat fun raakhai nah manoo-aa bas jaa ko.
He bathes at sacred shrines of pilgrimage, and adheres to fasts, but he has no control
over his mind.
ਿਨਹਫਲ ਧਰਮੁ ਤਾਿਹ ਤੁਮ ਮਾਨਹੁ ਸਾਚੁ ਕਹਤ ਮੈ ਯਾ ਕਉ ॥੧॥
िनहफल धरमु तािह तुम मानहु साचु कहत मै या कउ ॥१॥
nihfal Dharam taahi tum maanhu saach kahat mai yaa ka-o. ||1||
Know that such religion is useless to him. I speak the Truth for his sake. ||1||
