ਪਾਵਨ ਨਾਮੁ ਜਗਤ ਮੈ ਹਿਰ ਕੋ ਕਬਹੂ ਨਾਿਹ ਸੰਭਾਰਾ ॥
पावन नामु जगत मै हिर को कबहू नािह स्मभारा ॥
paavan naam jagat mai har ko kabhoo naahi sambhaaraa.
The Naam, the Name of the Lord is purifying in the world, and yet you never remember it.
ਨਾਨਕ ਸਰਿਨ ਪਿਰਓ ਜਗ ਬੰਦਨ ਰਾਖਹੁ ਿਬਰਦੁ ਤੁਹਾਰਾ ॥੨॥੩॥
नानक सरिन पिरओ जग बंदन राखहु िबरदु तुहारा ॥२॥३॥
naanak saran pari-o jag bandan raakho birad tuhaaraa. ||2||3||
Nanak has entered the Sanctuary of the One, before whom the whole world bows down;
please, preserve and protect me, by Your innate nature. ||2||3||

ਕਹਉ ਕਹਾ ਅਪਨੀ ਅਧਮਾਈ ॥

What can I say about my base nature?
ਉਰਿਝਓ ਕਨਕ ਕਾਮਨੀ ਕੇ ਰਸ ਨਹ ਕੀਰਿਤ ਪਰ੍ਭ ਗਾਈ ॥੧॥ ਰਹਾਉ ॥
उरिझओ कनक कामनी के रस नह कीरित पर्भ गाई ॥१॥ रहाउ ॥
urjhi-o kanak kaamnee kay ras nah keerat parabh gaa-ee. ||1|| rahaa-o.
I am entangled in the love of gold and women, and I have not sung the Kirtan of God's
Praises. ||1||Pause||
ਜਗ ਝੂਠੇ ਕਉ ਸਾਚੁ ਜਾਿਨ ਕੈ ਤਾ ਿਸਉ ਰੁਚ ਉਪਜਾਈ ॥
जग झूठे कउ साचु जािन कै ता िसउ रुच उपजाई ॥
jag jhoothay ka-o saach jaan kai taa si-o ruch upjaa-ee.
I judge the false world to be true, and I have fallen in love with it.
