ਮਨ ਰੇ ਗਿਹਓ ਨ ਗੁਰ ਉਪਦੇਸੁ ॥
मन रे गिहओ न गुर उपदेसु ॥
man ray gahi-o na gur updays.
O mind, you have not accepted the Guru's Teachings.
ਕਹਾ ਭਇਓ ਜਉ ਮੂਡੁ ਮੁਡਾਇਓ ਭਗਵਉ ਕੀਨੋ ਭੇਸੁ ॥੧॥ ਰਹਾਉ ॥
कहा भइओ जउ मूडु मुडाइओ भगवउ कीनो भेसु ॥१॥ रहाउ ॥
kahaa bha-i-o ja-o mood mudaa-i-o bhagva-o keeno bhays. ||1|| rahaa-o.
What is the use of shaving your head, and wearing saffron robes? ||1||Pause||
ਸਾਚ ਛਾਿਡ ਕੈ ਝੂਠਹ ਲਾਿਗਓ ਜਨਮੁ ਅਕਾਰਥੁ ਖੋਇਓ ॥
साच छािड कै झूठह लािगओ जनमु अकारथु खोइओ ॥
saach chhaad kai jhoothah laagi-o janam akaarath kho-i-o.
Abandoning Truth, you cling to falsehood; your life is uselessly wasting away.
ਕਿਰ ਪਰਪੰਚ ਉਦਰ ਿਨਜ ਪੋਿਖਓ ਪਸੁ ਕੀ ਿਨਆਈ ਸੋਇਓ ॥੧॥
किर परपंच उदर िनज पोिखओ पसु की िनआई सोइओ ॥१॥
kar parpanch udar nij pokhi-o pas kee ni-aa-ee so-i-o. ||1||
Practicing hypocrisy, you fill your belly, and then sleep like an animal. ||1||
ਰਾਮ ਭਜਨ ਕੀ ਗਿਤ ਨਹੀ ਜਾਨੀ ਮਾਇਆ ਹਾਿਥ ਿਬਕਾਨਾ ॥
राम भजन की गित नही जानी माइआ हािथ िबकाना ॥
raam bhajan kee gat nahee jaanee maa-i-aa haath bikaanaa.
You do not know the Way of the Lord's meditation; you have sold yourself into Maya's
hands.
ਉਰਿਝ ਰਿਹਓ ਿਬਿਖਅਨ ਸੰਿਗ ਬਉਰਾ ਨਾਮੁ ਰਤਨੁ ਿਬਸਰਾਨਾ ॥੨॥
उरिझ रिहओ िबिखअन संिग बउरा नामु रतनु िबसराना ॥२॥
urajh rahi-o bikhi-an sang ba-uraa naam ratan bisraanaa. ||2||
The madman remains entangled in vice and corruption; he has forgotten the jewel of the
Naam. ||2||
ਰਿਹਓ ਅਚੇਤੁ ਨ ਚੇਿਤਓ ਗੋਿਬੰਦ ਿਬਰਥਾ ਅਉਧ ਿਸਰਾਨੀ ॥
रिहओ अचेतु न चेितओ गोिबद िबरथा अउध िसरानी ॥
rahi-o achayt na chayti-o gobind birthaa a-oDh siraanee.
He remains thoughtless, not thinking of the Lord of the Universe; his life is uselessly
passing away.
ਕਹੁ ਨਾਨਕ ਹਿਰ ਿਬਰਦੁ ਪਛਾਨਉ ਭੂਲੇ ਸਦਾ ਪਰਾਨੀ ॥੩॥੧੦॥
कहु नानक हिर िबरदु पछानउ भूले सदा परानी ॥३॥१०॥
kaho naanak har birad pachhaana-o bhoolay sadaa paraanee. ||3||10||
Says Nanak, O Lord, please, confirm your innate nature; this mortal is continually making
mistakes. ||3||10||
