ਉਸਤਿਤ ਿਨੰਦਾ ਦੋਊ ਿਤਆਗੈ ਖੋਜੈ ਪਦੁ ਿਨਰਬਾਨਾ ॥
उसतित िनदा दोऊ ितआगै खोजै पदु िनरबाना ॥
ustat nindaa do-oo ti-aagai khojai pad nirbaanaa.
Renounce both praise and blame; seek instead the state of Nirvaanaa.
ਜਨ ਨਾਨਕ ਇਹੁ ਖੇਲੁ ਕਠਨੁ ਹੈ ਿਕਨਹੂੰ ਗੁਰਮੁਿਖ ਜਾਨਾ ॥੨॥੧॥
जन नानक इहु खेलु कठनु है िकनहूं गुरमुिख जाना ॥२॥१॥
jan naanak ih khayl kathan hai kinhoo N gurmukh jaanaa. ||2||1||
O servant Nanak, this is such a difficult game; only a few Gurmukhs understand it! ||2||1||

Gauree, Ninth Mehl:
ਸਾਧੋ ਰਚਨਾ ਰਾਮ ਬਨਾਈ ॥
साधो रचना राम बनाई ॥
saaDho rachnaa raam banaa-ee.
Holy Saadhus: the Lord fashioned the creation.
ਇਿਕ ਿਬਨਸੈ ਇਕ ਅਸਿਥਰੁ ਮਾਨੈ ਅਚਰਜੁ ਲਿਖਓ ਨ ਜਾਈ ॥੧॥ ਰਹਾਉ ॥
इिक िबनसै इक असिथरु मानै अचरजु लिखओ न जाई ॥१॥ रहाउ ॥
ik binsai ik asthir maanai achraj lakhi-o na jaa-ee. ||1|| rahaa-o.
One person passes away, and another thinks that he will live forever - this is a wonder
beyond understanding! ||1||Pause||
ਕਾਮ ਕਰ੍ੋਧ ਮੋਹ ਬਿਸ ਪਰ੍ਾਨੀ ਹਿਰ ਮੂਰਿਤ ਿਬਸਰਾਈ ॥
काम कर्ोध मोह बिस पर्ानी हिर मूरित िबसराई ॥
kaam kroDh moh bas paraanee har moorat bisraa-ee.
The mortal beings are held in the power of sexual desire, anger and emotional
attachment; they have forgotten the Lord, the Immortal Form.
ਝੂਠਾ ਤਨੁ ਸਾਚਾ ਕਿਰ ਮਾਿਨਓ ਿਜਉ ਸੁਪਨਾ ਰੈਨਾਈ ॥੧॥
झूठा तनु साचा किर मािनओ िजउ सुपना रैनाई ॥१॥
jhoothaa tan saachaa kar maani-o ji-o supnaa rainaa-ee. ||1||
The body is false, but they believe it to be true; it is like a dream in the night. ||1||
ਜੋ ਦੀਸੈ ਸੋ ਸਗਲ ਿਬਨਾਸੈ ਿਜਉ ਬਾਦਰ ਕੀ ਛਾਈ ॥
जो दीसै सो सगल िबनासै िजउ बादर की छाई ॥
jo deesai so sagal binaasai ji-o baadar kee chhaa-ee.
Whatever is seen, shall all pass away, like the shadow of a cloud.
