HIGH SCHOOL TEACHERS' RECRUITMET
This paper reflects some of the results ( a segment ) from a broader empirical
research of some features that are connected with a teaching profession. A research was
conducted with a sociological query method, on a representative speciment ( = 586 ) of
high school teachers, in three Dalmatian districts ( a district of Dubrovnik, Split and Šibenik
), including all four types of high schools ( gymnasiums, professional high schools, industrial
high schools and artistic high schools ).
This question is dealt with: From which social groups are high school teachers
recruited in Croatian society? An analysis shows that high school teachers are
predominantly recruited from worker's, civil servant's and agricultural families, respectivly.
A comparison with a social background of primary school teachers shows some differences.
