SOCIAL BACKGROUD AD CAREER MOBILITY OF TEACHERS
The paper presents some results of researching teaching profession on a random
sample ( = 368) of class teachers and subject teachers in primary schools in Dalmatia. The
aim is to learn the social structure and the mobility of primary school teachers. The data are
assembled by a survey method assign for that purpose constructed questionnaire.
Socio-educational and socio-professional background of teachers is mostly from
lower educated and social classes. Various aspects of teachers' career mobility including
functional and international, as well as the subjective estimates of vertical mobility
possibilities are analyzed. The intra organization mobility is low. The results carried out and
commentated here should further on be compared and analyzed with the reports on
secondary school teachers with us and similar researches in other communities.
