Observing the history of Higher Education in the Republic of Kosovo is identified with the University
of Pristina. This University during its development except difficulties and bad periods has also
recognized the indisputable results and successes towards the advancement of higher education,
providing academic life with almost all aspects of the study, which has made our University to be
highly respected in the region and beyond. From his spot came out many distinguished personalities of
academic and intellectual life, humanistic and scientific, political and military. During the journey of
forty two years absolutely this sacred institution saw the barriers and challenges that associate during
its itinerary and development. Initially Pristina University had four faculties, and now this institution
has 17 faculties. The year 2012 finds Kosovo with 3 Public Universities (University of Pristina,
Prizren and Mitrovica), a private university-American University of Kosova, 16 Colleges and 4
Vocational High School.
