Purpose of study:
Use of cultural heritage for the cultural tourism of the region.
Determination of the composition and technique
of the construction. Dissemination the knowledge and
understanding of vernacular architecture among local
and foreign people.
Methodology/Approach:
Analyses of the sources. Comparation between the objects
in the neigbourhood (Italy, Slovenia,Austria, Germany
). The field researching, analysing the elements
and theoretical origins. Proportion systems and use of
them on the example ‘tetoja’ in Istria. Verifying the solutions
in construction. Use Today for the culture of Tomorrow.
Findings:
Research work, published (leaflet, catalogue, the book,
poster). Dissemination of knowledge and understanding
to the people, raising the consciousness. Technical
analyses of the construction, new possibilities and new
use. Revitalisation of the object, reconstruction into

working state. Arrangement of the environment for the
use and visits. Organisation of cultural tourism, execution
and control, valorisation of the results: practical,
educational and economical.
Final results:
Introducing new economic possibilities (in the field of
cultural heritage): with help of professionalism, (renovation,
rural tourism, new workplaces, revitalisation of
architecture as well as local economics).
Originality/Value:
Values of the cultural heritage, especially in architecture,
is unimmeasurable. Presentation of the architecture of
our predecessors is matter of culture. Objects are providing
specific base for idea and can serve in their valuation.
Preserving objects explains admission demand of
past and things to realize their story. Originality of the
project is use of culture in the tourism, with the education,
as well as the economic results.
Research limitations/Implications:
The main problem is use of hay Today: technical possibilities
have changed. Some possibilities can be reached
by literature only. Some details had been executed by
the tools, Today unknown.
Some attributes of aestetics had been changed in time.
Practical implications:
Reconstruction and revitalisation return the memory
from the past into realty. The basic result of the project
‘Revitalisation of Tetoja in Istria’ represents the use of architecture
for the cultural progress as well as for tourism
and economics.
