Purpose of study:
The aim of this research is objective consideration of the
role and importance of historical and cultural heritage
as a factor in the potential development of rural tourism
in Koprivničko-križevačka county.
Methodology/Approach:
As a tool of quantitative research have been used the
questionnaire on a sample of Koprivnica Križevci’s municipalities
and their representatives: the mayor and / or
deputy mayor, representatives of tourist organizations
and representatives of associations or societies that
promote cultural and historical value.
Findings:
According to preliminary results of the researches, in
the taken research area there are numeros historic
and cultural heritage elements that can be valued for
tourism purposes. Though most of this potential is un-

tapped what is probably reason why tourism efforts are
still weak. In this paper it have been highlighted and
systematic cited positive examples of conservation and
concern for historic cultural heritage.
Originality/Value:
This is attempt to analyze the existing, unused and in
particular, less-known cultural and historical heritage
intangible elements of Koprivničko križevačka county
for their tourist valorization in rural space. This additional
element of rural tourism is expected to connect the
various professions and practice and indirectly make
the local economy even more active.
Research limitations/Implications:
The study was conducted only with respondents in Koprivnica
Križevci county. The reason for this spatial limitation
lies in the limited material and financial resources
of researchers. The first results of this study are indicative,
and for a more comprehensive understanding of
this issue should be conducted research on a wider regional
or even national territory.
Practical implications:
On the basis of the conducted study and analysis of the
cultural and historical heritage in the development of
rural tourism in Koprivnica Križevci county, their municipalities,
local tourist boards, the associations that
promote cultural and historical value can apply more
comprehensive and detailed evaluation of those elements
in order to define new forms of tourism in existing
offers.
