Intangible heritage in a function of social life of Nin, in
the past and present

Purpose of study:
The purpose is to understand the preserved constructing
skill of wooden boats and belief of the apparition,
establish the right expression for wooden boats of
Nin (among three that are in usage now), approach
the problems related with the keeping alive examined
phenomena and confirmation of their connection with
the rural area and tourism.
Methodology/Approach:
Several research methods are used in the paper. They
are field research, relevant observation, qualitative
analysis of archive content and literature and synthesis.
Surveys were performed on a sample of 100 households
and in-depth interviews with eight people from Nin and
the surroundings.
Findings:
This work will clear up: constructing skill of the Nin
wooden boats and the right expression for them. Also

Structured abstract
year old belief of apparition of Our Lady of Zecevo will
be gathered. The relationship of the two phenomena
will be established. The connection of rural areas and
tourism will be also cleared up. It will confirm that
the researched inheritance was important and still is
important in the social life of Nin and the surroundings.
It will show if the residents know that the constructing
skill of wooden boats and belief about the apparitions
belong to intangible heritage.
Originality/Value:
In the fundamental research in the paper Intangible
heritage in a function of social life of Nin, in the past
and present previously unknown data to the public
related with the constructing skill of wooden boats
and traditions of belief were collected, and it will
be a valuable contribution to a possible change in
the function from preserved to protected intangible
heritage and the use of these phenomena in tourism
purposes.
Research limitations/Implications:
The problem in the development of the paper was
limited amount of data, lacking literature related to the
topic of research and other written evidence and the
limited research resources.
Practical implications:
Practical application of research work relates to the
increasing awareness about care and preservation of
valuable intangible heritage of Nin and its surroundings,
which in modern times has a tendency of disappear.
