Purpose of study:
First, Inventory (collection) and systematization (reaming)
of those elements of the landscape that can be “eo
ipso” driver of the development of specific forms of rural
tourism.
Second Thematic - cartographic and statistical representation
of selected groups and subgroups of landscape
components and their evaluation with respect to
specific forms of rural tourism.
Third Based on the collected and valued elements of
the landscape assessment of benefits for the development
of special forms of rural tourism
Methodology/Approach:
a) Spatial (cartographic) analysis of the landscape elements
b) Combined empirical - statistic methods of evaluation
of landscape quality (Potential of the landscape
elements, Relative evaluation of landscape elements)
c) Input data were collected many years of direct field
research; geomorphological, geological, pedological
and climatic characteristics of the County

Structured abstract
Findings:
By applying the systematic geoecological landscape
evaluation procedures, based on the statistical and empirical
analysis, also in the assessment process - The synthesis,
as well as some particulay important elements
of geosphere of the Županija Zapadnohercegovačka
region, (municipalities Posušje, Grude, Široki Brijeg and
Ljubuški), categories of landscape quality in hierarchical
order for the special types of rural tourism has been
singled out. It has been eatimated cartographically and
in tables. Landscape values ranging from the most valuable
to unfavorable or even very unfavorable terrain for
mentioned purposes. The obtained results may be starting
point for defining and redefining of land uses planning
in existing and future spatial planning of Županija
Zapadnohercegovačka region and BiH Federation.
Originality/Value:
For the first time the procedure of geoecological evaluation
and mapping of landscape for special rural turistic
purposes has been applied. Its results will be
indispensable in defining or redefining ways of land
use within the existing and future physical plan of
Zapadnohercegovačka županija County and BiH Federation.
Research limitations/Implications:
The lack of sophisticated equipment during sampling
and measurement of certain geoecological elements.
Practical implications:
Selected qualitative categories of benefits / disadvantages
of the special rural touristic landscapes has been
cartographically and statistically presented and they
will bee the basis for further planning, development
and implementation of projects of rural tourism in the
county and federation.
